Sorry - edit for Daveu: She survived, undetected, until the end of the war, and lived happily ever after. You don't have to change the outcome just to please me. I just felt that with all the depression that's going round we don't constantly need reminding how bad things are, it just occasionally it would be good to see something a bit lighter on here. I realise it you don't really do happy but surely even you can see how depressing the majority if your posts have been recently.

If you check my posts, you will find many, perhaps most of them, are humorous or tongue in cheek - I often get into trouble for exactly that! Others are serious, but I never set out to be depressing - angry sometimes (especially post-match recently!), or pissed off, but almost never negetive (except, of course, in the eye of the beholder). My two posts on the corona virus were entirely factual, and actually quite carefully researched. One of the things that most bugs me is conspiracy 'theories', so I was just trying to do what I could to counter that nonsense before it gets even sillier. The posts were entirely fact-based and neutral (except my comment at the end!).

Pleased to say my daughter finally seems to be over the worst. Out of bed now and starting to do a few things around the house although she still tires very easily and has to take frequent breaks. Still has a bit of a temperature, but had a long Skype with her yesterday and she looks and sounds a lot better and seems to be much more her normal self. I think it's been about three weeks and we think it'll be a few more days before she can think about going to work, she's classified as a key worker so still needs to work when fit. So it will probably be about four weeks in total. I am glad to hear that, Dave

Not sure there were any cheap digs. The Ann Frank "joke" was possibly in poor taste but was only in response to me asking him to post something cheerful for a change. To be honest, my issue is that we are currently bombarded with stuff about the damn virus 24/7 on just about every TV channel, social media outlet, and radio programme. I would just like some relief from it and seeing another depressing post from JDL just pushed me over the edge.

He possibly knows more about this virus than we do. Just a thought

If you are unworried by it thats fine.

Just a thought A conspiracy theory is more dangerous than a bat going down on a pangolin... @oxford glad to see you have picked up on some of my posts. 😊 Interesting points to note currently is that 20 million mobile phone accounts in PRC have gone silent and cremtion urns are in short supply. Cremations in Wuhan are up 5 fold compared with the same time last year implying at least an extra 6000 deaths per month in that area alone. PRC has banned all international visitors (even though I have a multiple entry visa I am not allowed in now) because they obviously don't want people to see the truth of the CCPvirus. Why do you think they kicked out those US journalists a couple of weeks ago and have refused all offers of outside aid from day one? This CCPvirus does have a second wave that we are currently experiencing in HK but PRC is in denial (making up fantasy stories about it being spread by foreigners). The UK and rest of the world should watch and learn. Do not fall into complacency after a few weeks. FYI all bars and restaurants in HK currently require temperature checks as you walk in the door before you can be served. Maximum 4 persons at a table (otherwise mahjong parlours are screwed) and all tables minimum 1.5m apart.

It's going to need a worldwide vaccine programme to knock this on the head (until the next virus) - Trump was singing the praises of Roche the other day, lay your bets on them spearheading a multi-trillion dollar project. The infrastructure is there, and the research is only months away. OK, years for the UK as we'll forget to sign up to the cooperation deal due to miscommunication...

A friend of mine had it. He mine had it, he spends half of his time in a house share in London and they have all had it. He (50sih) was totally wiped out for a week and was still feeling fragile 14 days later. One of his housemates (70+) is in ICU and is almost certainty not going to make it.
Different for everyone I think.
Strange times, when these days every time I cough I fart to cover it up.

So, I'm halfway between wiped out for a week and still feeling fragile 14 days later and in intensice care and not expected to make it?
Perhaps I won't bother with that season ticket after all...

Interesting article on the Sky News website which includes the quote...
"And according to reports this weekend, the British government has been told the Chinese may have lied about the extent of their own outbreak by a factor of 40."
I don't think anyone would be surprised if this was the case and I expect Trump will plug the "China virus" theme for all it's worth given the forthcoming Presidential Election.
