Sounds like what I had over Christmas. But, unless the Chineese really have been keeping it quiet (and the facts suggest otherwise - that it really did start in a 'wet market'in Wuhan in mid-December), this was just another flu virus. Aren’t people saying possibly late October early November Yeah from all reports its been around since November

But, unless the Chineese really have been keeping it quiet (and the facts suggest otherwise - that it really did start in a 'wet market'in Wuhan in mid-December), this was just another flu virus. Aren’t people saying possibly late October early November Everything I've read or heard/watched tells the same story. It was first noticed when various doctors in Wuhan reported instances of a new flu-like disease in late December last year. One of the doctors (Li Wenliang – who has since died of Covid 19) realised that these reports were related and commented on social media (for which he was arrested and imprisoned!). The disease was found to be caused by a new version of the corona virus (hence the term 'novel' virus) - SARS-CoV-2. All the victims were customers or workers at a local seafood market (where other animals were also slaughtered and sold), so it was assumed they had picked the virus up there. Bats are well known reservoirs for the corona viruses (amongst many others!), but they don't pass them on directly on humans, so it is assumed that somehow a pig or pangolin caught the virus from bats, and humans were then infected from eating or handling the pig/pangolin meat. This story has remained consistent since the early days and fits all the other facts that are known about the virus, so I think it's reasonable to assume it's true. Also, there have been no other scientifically or realistically plausible alternatives put forward, just the usual conspiracy ‘theories’. Had it started somewhere else, or at a different time, the pattern of infection and spread would have been noticeably different.

2 of my work colleagues possibly had it during the Xmas period. Symptoms were similar. Very wet sweats, bad cramps etc. We were all working at Heathrow during that period Possible sham, from what i can find out, it's likely that this virus has been around since October last year but had been kept quiet by the Chinese. If you had been working at Heathrow then it's likely you and your colleagues could've been exposed to the virus. There was a swathe of job adverts in Wuhan for more viroligists at the laboratory in the centre of where it all started from back in mid-November last year. That tells you all you need to know.

It started in Wuhan in October either at the wet market where they believe it jumped from bats to pangolins to humans or at the virology lab 280m down the road or a combination of both. Obviously the CCP will not allow the truth out which is why they have refused all offers of international assistance.

Either a virologist caught it in the lab or they sold the dead animals they were testing on to the market. Not impossible

But why make it more complex?
These viruses have jumped from reservoir animals to humans, via another animal, several times, just in recent years. It's likely that this had been going on forever, but with the smaller populations of the past and the lack of mobility, they've rarely reached epidemic level, let alone become pandemics.
In other words, this is perfectly normal, and something that happens relatively frequently. What's changed is our out of control population increase and our increasing ability to travel. Ditto with other zoonotic viruses like Ebola - it hasn't just appeared, it's been passing from apes to humans for ages, but usually just one village at a time. It was only when it managed to spread further during one outbreak that it became an epidemic. But, again this was down to us, not the virus.
You don't have to invent Chinese conspiracies, Nature is quite capable on its own - especially with our help.

But, far more importantly - this is guaranteed to happen again, and again. This is not a one-off.
These zoonotic viruses, like all viruses, vary a lot in their characteristics. Some, like HIV, are very nasty, but very difficult to catch, so they don't become epedemic without our help. Others, like Ebola, are very easy to catch, but develop very rapidly and are mostly lethal, so they tend to 'burn themselves out', and - again - only become epidemic with our help.
Others, like the one we're dealing with now, are relatively mild, but very easy to catch, so they will go epedemic/pandemic on their own, but won't kill most victims. In less numerous and complex societies than ours, they probably would'nt have been any more noticed than seasonal flu.
But, statistically (and invetiably), occasionally 'petfect storm' viruses jump the gap, ones that can be easily spread AND are lethal. The so-called Spanish Flu of 1918 was one of these and killed millions - when the world population was a sixth of today's, and international travel was almost nonexistent. If we got one like that today, it would be disastrous.
And it WILL happen. Hopefully the shock of Wu Flu will wake us up and get us ready to cope with that pandemic, when it does happen. But, seeing how poorly we usually learn from history, I rather doubt this.

Jay is coming back. We are recruiting a squad of unbelievably talented local part-time players, all of who will run through brick walls for the club. We will storm the NS and be promoted by February. Next season we'll go through the NL like the proverbial hot knife through butter. The EFL will relent and allow 3G pitches. A mysterious benefactor will appear and fund the building of the Riverside stand, a new mega Town End, and the extension of the MS. Gates will increase to 6,000. Gillingham will go bust and AFC Gills will be playing in the God Knows What It's Called These Days (but it used to be the Kent League) League. In an ironic twist, we will lay a state of the art grass pitch...
And none of us will get Convid-19.

Pleased to say my daughter finally seems to be over the worst. Out of bed now and starting to do a few things around the house although she still tires very easily and has to take frequent breaks. Still has a bit of a temperature, but had a long Skype with her yesterday and she looks and sounds a lot better and seems to be much more her normal self. I think it's been about three weeks and we think it'll be a few more days before she can think about going to work, she's classified as a key worker so still needs to work when fit. So it will probably be about four weeks in total.

Sorry - edit for Daveu:
She survived, undetected, until the end of the war, and lived happily ever after.
