Not ridiculous but about as likely as flying unicorns and fairies at the bottom of your garden. There are not enough people sufficiently enlightened, caring and unselfish to make it happen. I appaud your sentiments but that is all they are, sadly they don't add up to a bag of beans. Life will be back to normal soon enough and we can get back to demanding sackings, moaning about the team and management, abusing each other and the rest. So much to look forward to. Getting back to football...………..(Oliver's Army) what a great thing for the club to do to call or email us all - definitely restoring a club spirit. I take no joy, Nick, in us going PT in these circumstances but will be just grateful for us to survive as a club and put a team out we can all get behind, and no, not the time to talk about moans for quite a long while into "normality", whenever that may come. For now though we must all pray for everyone at the club, DaveU's daughter and yes, now even Boris, to get through this virus. No idea if the Hak will be manager anymore as he is FT and we may not be able to afford him, but actually I hope that he stays on as you can have a different impetus when you have stuck together through a crisis and if the clubs sticks by him I think he could actually come back all guns blazing with a PT team. I may even have to change my forum name! How about nws2? You will quickly find that Hugo Boss's trademark lawyers are pussycats...

Crikes ! Just had my personal chat with Oliver. What a nice touch. Was he able to confirm the rumours on whether STHs are including in the attendance whether they attend or not? Asking for a friend.

We only discussed family stuff, more interesting than ways of counting match attendances

I hit the jackpot too, and got Oliver! Very interesting chat. He comes across as a nice guy and a real fan. It must have been a bit of a slog making all those calls - in what other club do you get the owner ringing you up and asking how you are?!
Looks like we'll be part-time next season, for financial reasons, if nothing else. But it was also interesting that he said we needed at least some players who were local and felt a real connection to the club and the fans.
He said that the problems with this season mainly stemmed from certain of the early buys turning out to be no good, and this had resulted in a weakened squad and the playing budget being overspent. In addition to probably going part-time, so presumably not keeping many (any?) of this season's players, it was also almost impossible to extend players' contracts (which run out at the end of April), as there's so much uncertainty about the next season.
This was a discussion, rather than any definite indication of his thinking, but my take on it is that we could well see a very different team next season. Although (my thoughts, not Oliver's comments) are that so many things will be up in the air, and so many clubs will be short of funds, that we might well find many players who are currently 'full-time' having to accept a new part-time reality.
He caught me just as I was changing to go out to work in the garden, so this entire chat was had with me standing in the kitchen in nothing but my pants!

Quite an interesting post until the last point which describes a somewhat unattractive image.

Bet you forgot to mention about any possibility about buying ST early to help generate a little cash flow or the club

Yes it would provide a short term boost, but more income in April means less income in August. Money may be tight for some of us but worth a shot all the same. Even 400 sales at £200 a go would deliver £80,000 into the coffers.

This is why we need a part-time budget. ALL clubs will have lower budgets I assume and if Stones are part time with 2,000 crowds and 3G income we should bounce back better than most. More local players would be fantastic in my opinion.. more connection to the fans, the town and ultimately the club. I think we will attract a few crackers next season re players who have to face the new reality. Their agents will have to as well... thoughts and prayers with football agents at this very difficult time :-)

By the sound of things, there will be an army of players out of contract this summer. If we've weathered this storm financially, Maidstone should be an excellent prospect for some looking for clubs.

It's good to be optimistic but remember the club has more overheads than most, which is fine because our normal income is quite a bit above the average. But our income now is zero.

But I saw something from the club the other day that mentioned some sort of 'offer' on STs that the club was going to make, and I was hoping that was it.

Don't rely heavily on the 3g income being as profitable as it has been as, as well as reduced number of evenings to book out, there may also be a need to reduce the fees whilst other local community/activities also try to recoup funds to be able to afford things after the cornavirus.
