Given all the posts mentioning the management over last nights bitterly disappointing defeat and performance I went over the post match interview and the stand out point for me is JS2 doesn't believe in players needing to have "confidence". In Johns eyes, they are paid to do a job, so they just do it.
That's 1950's talk - maybe even still good in the 1970's, even the 80's, but certainly had largely died by 2000.
In 2020 most of the players he is managing who have been raised in an age where they live on their "feelings", their emotions, their confidence, whether they are "liked" or not, how much they are liked, being in touch with their "inner selves" being "true" to themselves etc etc etc and a coach today has to understand that. Its ALL about how they "feel". Its all about confidence, belief etc. Maybe that's why there is no atmosphere, the team lacks confidence etc.
Also interesting from the interview was mention at all of the controversial substitution...…….nor of Olutade, despite bemoaning the fact we cant find the net!
Surely Oliver, Terry, Bill need to have a word with the Managers to bring them into 2020 and also get them to play the only goalscoring striker we have on the books - albeit in a lower league, but surely better than playing a CH/Midfielder up front??

Well it's a case of listening to a bloke with plenty of know how and experience and compare it to reading some emotional claptrap. John/Hakan's interview comments were fair enough, the team is out of sorts up front at the moment so the goals arn't coming. Our management team may be totally out of touch and incompetent as suggested in this thread, but more importantly if they can learn by reading and acting upon the expert advice to be found on this forum, then the future could still be rosy.

Sincere apologies, Nick for offering an opinion. Thought that's what threads were for. I'm obviously wrong. Im a very very very naughty boy. Clearly JS2 and Hak have it all sussed and all the posts about last nights game are all wrong.

The thing is bringbackjay, your posts have a very strong tendency to be ultra critical with neverending moaning about John and Hakan.
Pretty obvious you want them out and the sooner the better, your agenda from the beginning has been transparent.

Of course, you are right, Nick, I just don't think they have delivered, measured by their own backgrounds, full time status, connections, abilities etc. MY OPINION is that JS2's experience may be better placed as a Director of Football, with a dynamic younger charismatic coaching staff managing the team. My heart would love to have "a" Jay back, not necessarily "the" Jay - that person has moved on (and possibly not in a successful direction, for the actual JS1 to come back). I think that's a very fair and honest opinion to hold, whether you lived through the near bankrupt days of the club or not, and is a fair and reasonable observation and opinion to express on the fans forum as a fan. I have never pretended to be an expert, otherwise I would be managing a football club. Neither are you - does that make all your posts invalid? I don't think so.

I didn't live through the near bankrupt stage, but imo and I know its not worth much, John and Hakan have neither succeeded or failed. Somewhere in between really, plenty of good players signed but probably a few too many of the not so good. Performances and results have been inconsistent, not good but not that bad. After 2 back to back defeats there were bound to be a few critical posts. Tbh I had hoped to see a few more wins in the board by now and expected a bit more from the team. Early days I know, but the knives are already out and sharpened for our management duo. Would I be happy to see John and Hakan back next season ? Definite, 100% with the expectation of a stronger season all round. But it's just my opinion.

One positive - at least it's brought this board back to life!

Just remember that, according to the man himself, his teams are traditionally stronger in the New Year.
To be fair, he didn't specify which New Year.

Shall I be more contentious and actually start a mock bring back Jay campaign to really get it going? You probably said that tongue in cheek, however there is still a decent chunk of our fanbase who want that to happen and no matter who is in charge if they don't win every game then the knives are out. Jay and the owners are imo not likely to work with eachother ever again, even though the incident that caused the issue didn't directly involve jay it cost the club money and a lack of trust in him by the owners. At the moment the club has no direction there are fans who want us in the football league now, fans happy to consolidate in this league and fans who would be happy going down a few leagues. The club needs to find a direction and needs to find a way to pull all the fans together to take the club forward that is the challenge and if they can find a way to do that then we'd be onto a winner problem is being able to find a way to do that.

Are there really? Apart from nws and his fantasy 'things were better in the old days' world, I've never heard anyone suggest we go lower than where we are. It would hardly be an expression of ambition!
