To cap it all I heard that Georges appeal was rejected tonight so we are without Wishart on Saturday and George and Chesmain for the next 3 games. That could spell the end of of chances of making the playoffs.

If that is so, then one wonders what evidence, if any, was looked at? Before tonight, I still felt we could cope without Wishart, Elokobi and Chiesmain. Now, not so sure. Akanbi is out of sorts up front, while Amaluzor, for all his talent, is too easy to mark out of the game without support. Still think that our midfield has enough to prosper in this league, but defensively our resources look a bit stretched. Presumably Johnson, Marshall, Knight and Hoyte will play on Saturday, though management clearly have what seem odd ideas at times.

Hakan is way out of depth and I’m not sure what JS really does now. The Knight sub was a sign of desperation. Lose this weekend and it’s going to be a real uphill struggle to make the PO. This team has no real goal threat the defence ok but still leaks goals, midfield gotten better but no where near closing down the first goal tonight. Against the better sides we are too predictable. Set pieces again...desperate, poor and embarrassing, all the balls to the back stick where someone will make an half arsed attempt to get on it. That free kick which everyone thought was a penalty was wasting by 3 three players trying some failed training ground routine. What the f**k do they do all week? All of them are fit but they have no real quality and inconsistent. Akanbi been tired and out of form for weeks now, take him out and stick someone else in there it’s...so obvious. 3 centre backs on the field which ended up being 4 by the end of the game. Joke management, not good enough.

Great first 15 mins then a Bath goal out of nothing knocked the stuffing out of us and we spent the rest of the game chasing trying to be that first quarter of an hour team and failing.
Too many players out of sorts and too much reliance on players who had to do everything like Marshall or Justin on his own up front.
Midfield just wasn’t strong enough over 90 minutes and tactics at corners free kicks and the substitutions were unfathomable.
Just not good enough. Management really do have a lot to answer for as we have been good but not good enough all season and instead of improvement it’s getting worse and the coaches seem to be getting more and more clueless. How can you justify a CH for a CF when you are 0-1 down and leave a proven goal scorer on the bench?
Madness.
Attendance was low too and crowds enthusiasm low. Maybe the management losing its way is the reason why.
Of course play offs are still mathematically possible but with a FT team in a PT league we shouldn’t even be in that position, and it feels like it’s slipping away fast anyway.
Bath are a good fast skillful team but they were beatable and the score flattered them. Do we actually deserve to make playoffs?
Certainly not at the moment. Come on John Still, be honest, accept responsibility for this terrible underperformance and give us your ideas on how you are going to change it!

Very quiet on the forum today? We have a crucial and possibly exciting top half of the table NLS classic at home tonight that we need to win but the buzz isn’t really buzzing! Has nws turning every thread into politics put everyone off? A lot depends on what team we field tonight - either keeper is fine for me and George and Noah will give everything at the back before their little rest so it’s really whether or not we can find the goalscoring habit again up front and pushing forward from midfield. Come on Saidoo! It could go either way tonight so we need everyone behind the boys to urge them on against very tough opponents. COYS! Every thread? It's not true is it? You are Donald Trump AICM £5. (Incidentally, you need to talk about football more and me less. I'm happy to give you an autograph though) The irony daveu. You just did I think we all need to leave nws alone now. I think he's losing it, poor chap. Get back to football. How is that 'leaving me alone' going?

I thought it was a cracking game but we were defeated by a crafty and well-organised team. Bizarre though the substitution of Akanbi for Knight was (and Akanbi had been a threat all night, showing his surprise and disapproval of his substitution through his body language as he came off), Bath always had the latent threat of no. 9 and no. 15 on the break. We hit the post and had a penalty rejected (though I thought Allen dived - sorry Nick who hates my reality hits!!!) but they missed three sitters and seemed able to squash any of our corners and free kicks.
We miss McClure's sharpness. We need a better mid-fielder than Boucaud, he's old and slow.
Maidstone played really well and the tactics were good. Can't blame the management for that. Shame we can't bring through some of the youngsters now.

I paid to watch a game of football not Ryan Clarke waste 15 minutes mincing over every goal kick, if that's the mark of a cracking game i give up.

The atmosphere in the ground has gone completely. It has been like this since Jay went. No songs at all. It has got very depressing down there. If we keep playing like this then I can’t see many turning up to the final few home games. Prob only get 1000 but that’s it. This is down to the managers. This is their team and their mess. John said we need to score goals... well put on a bloody striker then. They have no clue at all.

Olutade left on the substitutes bench and on comes Knight allowing Marshall to move up, what was that all about ? Tactics looking questionable to say the least. Things are looking really poor in attack with only a couple of players up to NLS standard. If they lose form, suspended or get injured we are down the plughole. That's where we are now, it's been a rapid fall of grace. We always knew the squad was thin in key positions and now the chickens are coming home to roost. Is it time to panic ? Times like this we miss oldboy, he would know what to do. Don't feel angry like rockstar, just disappointed

Only 37 people voted for MotM so far, with nobody getting more than 6 votes. Proof that nobody stood out as better than the rest = tried hard but not good enough. On the substitutions, the only experienced players available were Knight, Olutade and Allen. Corne injured again, or just being rested? Why Olutade not used seems bizarre. If he is out of favour, why pick him at all? Maybe Knight into the back four (three, five?) and Marshall forward was to give some height to the attack, but as they still can't do corners or free kicks for toffee, one again has to wonder. As for management, would sacking them at this stage of the season achieve anything? No - there is no money to bring in new players, we are probably not going to make the play offs with this squad and are not equipped for the NLS anyway. If we don't get promoted, then next season begs a big rethink. Stay full time with only cheaper players to work with, or go back to part time and pay the best wages we can afford to get the best part time players available? Good management and coaching can and does create teams who kick above their weight as it were. Are HH and JS good enough? Not sure. HH's CV suggests he struggled in the NL (not positive looking forwards), while JS is not getting any younger. Thinking about it, the club have not covered themselves in glory with appointments since they sacked Jay Saunders, a sign that they too lack judgement/experience/whatever in such matters. The owners run a tight ship, but do they know about picking coaching staff? Overall, it's still been a better season than last, but there remain things that are not right. A full time club should do better in a part time league, but such things are not a gimmee. Two sides go up, two go down and the rest end up a mixture of disappointment or relief, with Maidstone very much in the middle. Many questions, but no real answers at the moment, but in the mean time, COYS. Pissed off again on Saturday, or elated after a bounce back performance?

We are very average now..a NLS midtable side which is probably ok for club this season as it rebuilds the finances after last season's car crash. We need a new striker but if we do not really want to go up and there are not that many games left, is it worth spending the money now or wait until the summer?
If we were part time with our current budget i think we would have a stronger NLS squad. Go fulltime if promoted to NL?

Bizarre substitutions, wrong player taken off, we couldn't keep our best striker at the club, couldn't make our corners and free kicks count last night, and the newly brought in midfielder is old and slow...………...but we cant blame the management for any of that? Mmmmm!
