Dont be silly Dave, I am on about one player who allegedly stands out above the rest to the point where a Premier league club is interested. They would not be interested if he didnt have above average talent/potential. Maybe ,just maybe he might be better than Iffy f**king Allen. And maybe he isn't yet. Pretty sure our management team are on the ball regarding any players who are ready to step up. Just out of interest, how many times have you seen him play. Never ,but trust the Chelsea scouts know what they see and like.

I'd guess if John and Hak thought he was ready he have at least been on the bench by now.

Today's StonesTV interview with Simon Austin covers their view.

Wouldn't the player need to be on a contract with us for that to even be a possibility? Definitely. That's why we only got courtesy payments from Fulham for Chris Smalling. Apologies for my ignorance but are we saying that the acadamy players not on any sort of contract at all? That doesn't seem right some how that they are getting the coaching and opportunities without any commitment on their side.

West brom had a highly rated youngster and he was able to up an leave to Barcelona for no fee. Remember man United back in the early nineties forever being accused of poaching youngsters from other teams, with no financial recompense to the former team. I'm not sure if it is something to do with age as aren't youngsters now only allowed to leave school/college at 18 and not before, just something nagging in the back of my head about minors and not being under the standard contract and some employment laws etc.

Which is as it should!d be. You're not allowed to enter into financial contracts as a child. Why should your local football club own your future career, because they let you train with them?

Meanwhile, many clubs do not invest as heavily in their youth development as they otherwise might because of this.

I'm pretty sure there are rules governing compensation for a club who have helped with a young player's development if he is poached by another club.

Didn't this come in after our Smalling debacle? Maidstone, trendsetters once again! If I'm right, that is.

Doesn't the mufc academy operate like an occupational college, with students paying a fee? The contract would be between the parents and the club. The latter providing a football based education.
