I knew it wouldn't take long. Poor lad has probably had years of this at school, why don't we give him a break. He'll probably come on here to see what we're saying about his signing so let's present a good face to him. Aw diddums! What can we say about him no one knows who he is. I welcome him to the club and he can join the other lazy gits who are frightened of a bit of mud. "What can we say about him no one knows who he is" Whoever he is he's coming to play for the football club you support, so why not try to be nice to him. Welcome to the club, Charlie

I may have been unfair to Johnson but lets face it he has had his fair share of injuries. No one has suggested how Charlie will fit into the team. He will not be a bench warmer so who will give way?

I guess its partly about competition with Pennell leaving. But it could just be cover with Wish being our only cover full back, probably start on the bench but if chesmain has a crap game then he is in I guess

I did read that he was an attacking full back so may be used similar to wish but on the right hand side, we can all guess but will have to till Saturday to see what happens..

Certainly wouldn't want to meddle with the Wishart-Cheismain combination. It was noticeable how much weaker we were when Noah was out and we could do with Dan playing a bit further upfield as he hasn't scored much, if at all of late. Given that they almost look like twins, maybe they are a bit of a secret weapon that confuses the opposition.

For me, he's been one of Still's most successful finds. It's frequently what happens in the middle of the pitch that matters for a club's success, and yet the key players there often don't seem to get the recognition they deserve.

Am I the only one struggling to see a connection between the two halves of your post?
What has Chesmain got to do with "key players" "in the middle of the pitch"? Isn't a fullback the epitome of a player not in the middle?

Depends on how you define 'middle', I suppose. From the few games I've seen him play, he seems to have more of a wing-back role - not in the Millsian sense, of course, but definitely in the lower-middle of the pitch, rather than just in 'pure' defence.

I must admit to sharing some of pedant's confusion about Chesmain being a key figure in the middle of the pitch.
Surely you are meaning wide-middle rather than lower-middle ?

I must admit to sharing some of pedant's confusion about Chesmain being a key figure in the middle of the pitch. Surely you are meaning wide-middle rather than lower-middle ? Probably! I never played football (except one very ill-advised mixed 5-a-side...) so I don't know much about the technical side of the game. I'm never sure what formation we're playing, for instance. But I do know that we see a lot of Chesmain in front of us for one half of the game, and we sit nearer the middle than the end. My perception (completely non-tecnical) is that his real value to the team is his interceptions and passes in that area - as well as what he does in defence - and that we missed that when he wasn't playing.

Anyone heard anything about the trialist who came in as a sub in the Dartford KSC game? I thought he looked quite promising.

Yes, Lillis, a grand old Maidstone name - even if he is a Cypriot (presumably Northern if he knows Hak).
