Whatever the reason for him going to Gloucester really is irrlevant, I would rather have a squad of players with a genuine desire to play for the club because they want to not because it,s the best paid club they can get. Over the years we have had more than enough players motivated purely by money an nothing else. Sorry JB but with only a very few exceptions, those players don't exist. Even at this level most of them are in it for the money. And that my friend is what is wrong with football today at all levels.

I disagree. They have a rare talent, limited to a few years. The local club they are supposed to be loyal to, would happily sell them or not renew their contract to suit business needs. Long gone are the days when clubs (businesses) had legal powers over players (employees) whose contract has expired. Courts ruled it illegal, and rightly so. If we wanted a fee for McClure, or wanted him to stay here, we should have offered him a better contract to begin with, or not signed him at all.
