Yes and nice hearing khan's name mentioned too. Sam Corne hoping to be back in training soon also.. poor lad was just coming into his own when he got injured. May have to look forward to seeing more of him next season instead.

Great team performance, Lewington again showed his class, for me with the late save to keep us at 2-1 stole the M.O.T.M. award again. If only we could become consistent we could do well this year, but thats why we all love this damn club. Never mind still a great day out.

No question, the boys worked really hard today and seemed a lot more organised than in a certain local derby. Players running hard all over the pitch with better defending from the front players and midfield. Akanbi looking increasingly special with every match (except Tonbridge). Lewington is doing the business in every game, Cole who imo is the stronger keeper, will have to be patient. Even Knight who has done nothing to impress, put in a very solid performance. After New Years Day this was a much needed tonic ! Hopefully with 10 days rest before the next match our bench may begin to look a bit stronger and Hakan may be more inclined to use his subs when needed.

He was MOTM in the last two games IMO an today he kept us at 2-1 late into the game with a save with his legs, I agree cannot see how Cole can get back into the team.

Is this the first time that an ex Maidstone Manager, albeit in a temporary capacity, has actually played against the club after managing the club? I don't even remember if this has happened to another club.

How come Jake Cole has not been on the bench or have I missed something?

Having to eat some humble pie today I have been on Elokobi back recently but him and Lewis Knight were outstanding today .God knows where this performance came from Was this really the same team that played Tonbridge ...unbelievable !!!Talk about chalk and cheese .Akanbi was quality today strong powerful and ran their right back into pieces. Bit hairy second half but first 45 we taught them a lesson, great effort today all round ,well done.

I'm confused. I read about dross performances and then attend the Dulwich game. I then hear about a poor Tonbridge game and then witness today. If i didnt know better I'd think there was a conspiracy to dissuade me from attending...
Anyway great performance today from every player. The defence was resolute in the face of mounting pressure in the second half. The midfield kept its shape well, helping defend and attack and Akanbi worked himself into the ground. He also showed fantastic strength for his goals. Its nice going to games again where you believe your centre forward will score. Lewis Knight gets a mention for concentrating well for the entire game, not putting a foot wrong and doing his job extremely well. For me the man of the match was Hoyte. Defended superbly, supported the attack well. He provided a real outlet down the right hand side be it at the back or front. My only criticism was why Olutade didnt replace a very tired looking Akanbi near the end. However, a very small criticism. All in all an excellent days work by Maidstone United.

Maybe the Stones players are more 'up for it' in the presence of nws. Anyhow, this was much more like it with a totally committed display from our team. Again a reluctance to use any substitutes when some players are running out of steam, but in truth the bench hasn't looked very strong recently and has included academy youngsters as well as players not properly match fit. Another 10 days and with any luck some of our injuries will have worked themselves out and the squad will look stronger again. Will Jonh/Hakan have made a new signing before our next match ? YES !

So much better than the Tonbridge effort. Some good performances throughout the team. No idea why some forum contributors have been moaning about George recently, another immense performance, like so many others this season. Such an important player and inspiring leader for the team. Akanbi looking like one of the best strikers in the league. 100% effort from the players, they really wanted a win today, long may the attitude contiue.

Wtf! How did we just win away at possibly the best team in the NS today ? Watching that yesterday, I wouldn't say Hawks were the best in the League, certainly there is a symmetry in their team, in that you have a chubby slow powerful bloke with a stubbly beard upfront, and a chubby slow ( angry ) powerful bloke with a stubbly beard in defence. Second half was a long 45 + minutes, but we were professional and hung on. All of the defence played well & Akanbi is a lethal finisher at this level who hits the ball so hard.
