Well he didn't ! It wasnt that long ago that some of our youngish support were doing it a few times, home and away. Thought it was a bit of a laugh I guess. Long gone now, they got the message. Down to Tonbridge to sort it out and quickly

Would it have been a laugh if the pitch had been damaged and game called off?
Or a bit of a giggle if it had been thrown among either set of fans and caused a stampede?

Talking to Tonbridge fans on the train and in the pub after the game they were not searched on the way into the ground by our magnificent security ,that privilege seems to be for home fans only as I was searched.

Yesterday..for a National League South game..we had stewards, security and police and someone still got in with a flare. Why do we need security AND police? Rumour security firm will not get contract renewed. There was also segregation yesterday..talk about OTT security for a nonleague match.

I had a strange experience with the security on Saturday
"GET OUT THE WAY"
My problem was I was just watching the match. It was weird. The security were escorting a youngster out the ground, they seemed pretty wound up.

Trouble is there,s always an element of harm to other people at almost everything that goes on at a football match. Where theres a surge forward at a goal someone might get hurt etc etc the problem is security at the club cannot be bothered to stop an search everyone for fear of causing massive delays,an people are scared of taking responsability in case there is trouble. I dont think it is possible to stop any one bringing flares smoke bombs or any other device they want into the ground. Maybe if the penalties were higher it may act as a deterrent but for an away fan to be banned from our ground for life is hardly scary is it.

On SL they said the flare landed on the pitch and was left there for some minutes. Is that correct?
If, so, surely it damaged the (plastic) pitch, which will now need repairing?

I heard it from my source that it was a Millwall fan paying us a visit in 2020 who was the guilty party. He bought a ticket at the gate on the day.

I overheard something about safety reasons state the it has to burn out and remain untouched, in case there is a secondary explosive device inside.
