The Duo wanted and constructed a clear out at the end of last season (Wisthart excepted) so that they could create their own squad for an MUFC renaissance. All out, many in, all from the great experience of a Football League manager and a National League manager combined.
The result? I am not the only one who thought that they were lucky in the Dulwich Hamlet game, to be frank. Today they were very lucky.
We have some really good players: Lewington, Hoyte, Chesmaine, Wisthart, Akanbi and Embury are National League South level, and play well regularly, the latter when he gets the chance. McClure, Khan and Amaluzor don't seem up the the physical demands of regular football and therefore no-one can base any sort of improvement on their return, if such happens. They must go at the end of the season.
So where does that leave the Duo's squad-building? Not good enough and they must improve with a number of decent signings or go.
Results-wise I think it's time to look at a deadline. Havent is a difficult away game so a slim loss or draw is acceptable. The following seven games are all three points in the bag for a well thought out squad with a decent game plan. Anything less than 16 points from those seven games should be deemed unacceptable (given our current position). That should be the point when a new manager is the next signing. Where is Jay?
Finally, I feel sorry for Jonny Edwards. He's bereft of confidence, lacks decision making because of the confusing instructions he has been given, and plays in a forward line that lacks cohesion. There is virtually nothing to play off in midfield.
I also feel sorry for George Elokobi; too old, too slow, lacking a reading of the game and can't pass. Pasture time.

Nice stat, in Edwards last 57 games, he has scored 6 times so almost a goal every 10 games. Those stats would be acceptable for a centre back, not a centre forward!

He didn't know where to stand or where to run to for most of the match. I don't think that is entirely his fault. He can be strong, quick and he can shoot. What is the management telling him to do? What is happening on the training ground? Elokobi, centre back: 29 games for us, 0 goals.

For a striker Edwards has been consistently poor and has never had a blinding season, if he came to us with say a Jake Robinson scoring record is be more inclined to think it’s the instructions he’s been given, but it’s probably both.

Lucky to get a point from that display. No communication between players only moaning at each other when mistakes are made.Lewington saved us again but does need to take control of his box abit more.Looking at Sonny today for them won most headers in both boxes and maybe we missed out letting him go.No atmosphere again maybe the players are picking up on this as well.

A majority of this team when we signed them appeared to be a steel and worthy of the league above, however most are now showing why we were able to sign to play in this league. What troubled me most today was the lack of running in the second half! We are a “full time” team and were stretched by Tonbridge side who train two nights a week! Agree with others that Marshall and Edwards are completely ineffective. The on going chant for their fans was “what a waist of money” and I have to agree! I reckon that despite being an under strength team I’m sure if you add up the wages paid to today’s 11 it will be far more than that paid to the Tonbridge 11.

I struggle with the idea that certain players don't know what is expected of them. They are all full time professionals, ergo it is their job to know what to do. Defenders defend, attackers create and score goals, while midfielders? Still not sure about that as we haven't really had that many! Whatever, if you are not getting anywhere in a game, then you have to adapt. Yes, defensively is all about shape and/or man to man marking, but they should be able to either see spaces to exploit or have the skills to take an opponent on and beat them. The inability to do that means they are not playing at the right level. Nothing wrong with that, everyone has their limits, but if a player can't cope, then management should not be picking them. There are certain players who have now had too many chances and others need to be given a try. If it doesn't work out, at least the effort was made, but at the moment, we are fast becoming a one trick pony and increasingly one with only three legs.

Hoyte has more goals than Edwards.

We can't keep blaming Jonny. Elokobi has been the biggest deflation. Awful for many games now. Can't pass, can't run, can't turn, can't lead. Pasture time. We need someone who can lead the team out of defence. Otherwise make Akanbi or Wishart captain. Or even the new Turkish bloke.

Actually Gavin Hoyte would be an excellent captain.
