The Chippenham thing was ridiculous; segregating two carloads of friendly visitors. Even Hamlet's "Rabble" (groan) wouldn't have hurt a fly. And forcing unwilling visiting fans to buy tickets online must be costing the club money. It just reinforces the image of Maidstone as a big unfriendly club. Not to mention the cost of catering and stewards for tiny groups. Here's my solution. Start every game as now, with the Elvis End split into home and away, and keep it segregated. But then allow visiting fans to explore the rest of the ground, use the clubhouse, buy a pie, and stand where they want. If any trouble does happen, automatic ejection from the ground, whether home or away fan. Segregation is hurting the public image of Maidstone United, and costing us money.

Totally agree. Interesting that we were allowed to to leave the Ground using the visitor's end steps immediately the game finished. None of the usual waiting for the visitor's section to empty.

On the other hand, away fans are complimentary about the views from the current ' away section ' ( see DH Forum ) and the current set up is easy to administer ( no ' judgement calls ' necessary about the volatility of away fans ). Certainly making the away section ' all ticket ' is overkill and unnecessary. Sadly segregation is where we are given incidents at the G over the past few years.

Sadly this is a decision for the local plod. The club is just doing what they are told.

Surely people at the club could just look at each fixture on it,s own merit, and segregate when an where needed. Apart from making us look unfriendly we are becoming a laughing stock.

The majority of this clubs supporters want us to be big time Charlie's and to do that we have to be unfriendly and uncaring , welcome to the world of being a professional football club supporter . The majority want it so there should be no complaints. I would much prefer going back part time and becoming a great Non league side again.

There's no incentive for the appropriate safety committee (ie Kent Police) to change their policy.

Correct. With all the away fans in one area all the Plod have to do is stand there and stare and charge us a fortune for it. Opening up the ground to all fans means the old Bill would have to circumnavigate the ground once in a while and they wouldn't like that would they , I mean actually working for your money cant see that catching on.

Your right sword an that is whats so sad I have seen it many times where are so called "fans" are more interested in spending the entire game shouting an swearing at opposition fans, yet if they were face to face without barriers or security they would be a little more withdrawn. How nice it would be to go back to those good old days

Thirded. I like the Dulwich fans and when I read that one of the nicest fans I've met on my travels over the last 30 years didn't bother coming because of not wanting to buy a ticket two weeks in advance and because of general perceived big club unfriendliness syndrome that saddens me.

I heard that too. Also read messages on the day from Dulwich fans whose plans had changed and were stuck with unwanted tickets. There is no benefit forcing away fans to buy tickets. It costs us money and creates bad will towards Maidstone United.

The police issue is a good point. We have no choice but to pay them a lot of money to stand on the exit stairs to the away end. If police had mingled with the Weymouth fans as soon as they started acting like twats, the necessity for segregation might never have arisen.

Keep it segregated as we shouldn’t put any strain on the visiting fans sanity with fruit loops like JDL and armchair MP’s now like NWS on the loose.
