So, 21 games gone and a reasonably respectable eighth place. Would be even better but for injuries (just when can we expect Kahn and Corne back?) and, especially, late goals which must have cost us about a dozen points already. In terms of our current league position, results say much. Against the seven teams above us, we've played eight games, winning just one (Concord), drawing three and losing four. A total of five points, or 0.6 per game. Against teams below us, we've played 13, won 8, drawn 3, lost just two. A total of 27 points, or just over two points a game - close to champions form in most leagues. If only! So, not bad, but could do better and we need to be beating those above us to really prosper, methinks. Not likely though until we get the strength in midfield that is so lacking at present.

At the risk of stating the bleedin obvious, we can make our full time advantage pay against part time clubs on low budgets. But not against those able to recruit the best part time players. The scattergun approach to recruitment needs to be replaced by gradually signing top quality players.

At the start of the season I set out to predict our performances over the coming season (stop laughing Nick) and at this stage I had us having 30 pts from 22 games and lying in 11th place. So we have 1 more point from one less game and are just outside the play offs so in my eyes we have acquitted ourselves well. I also predicted we would finish 4th with 69 pts as i believed and still believe we will have a much better 2nd half of the season. (Nick will you please stop laughing).

Well sword, it's taken a long while, but at last you are right about something. Reading this post of yours about those predictions did give me a chuckle. BUT is there any chance at all that you can produce some evidence that you actually made the predictions you claim. I won't hold my breath. By the way I see your prediction on today's match was a little bit adrift.

It was always going to be better than last year as the teams we are playing are far worse.
I’m enjoying the season. We should be higher and I expect us to make the playoffs and then I fancy us to do well.
Our squad is made up approximately a third who are good enough and are doing well, a third who are good enough and play to that potential about half the time, and a third who aren’t good enough and need to be moved on.
If we can balance the books, balance the squad with a few key additions then a better second half should be achievable.
An aside, we have a likeable side and likeable managers. That’s an important thing for me as well.

I am no computer genius so I cannot do you a copy to peruse and would probably being accused of fixing it to look right anyway . In my original predictions i had us down for a 1-0 defeat today but our ability to score goals but concede more led me to change it to 1-2 as ever i dont mind being wrong for the right reasons

Can the club make sure we get Khan, Chesmain, Wishart and Akanbi on long contracts as we don’t want them to go on a free to higher league clubs. Build the team around these players.

In terms of other Kent clubs, Tonbridge look in real trouble, while Dartford have turned things around and are breathing down our necks.

Sadly I really don’t see Wishart staying with us. Not so sure about that, he's clearly enjoying himself and that counts for a lot, and may even outweigh the lure of higher wages. And after a season in NLS he may find a move back to the NL doesn't come about as readily as it might have done last year.

Also, nobody wanted him during the Summer of 2019, although he has reinvented himself as a rather good left sided midfielder this season.

Having looked at my table and compared it with the actual table I have H&W top ,Bath 2nd and HemelH 3rd with Wealdstone languishing down at 13th. At the bottom I have 6 out of 7 right and if you swapped Ox City for St Albans I would have a full house down there. My final top are Havant Bath Hemel H Maidstone Chelmsford Dartford Dorking Now seeing as Wealdstone are almost certs for play offs then ine of these teams will not make it and on current form that could be us or Chelmsford.

Not too easy to believe from a guy who says "I have decided to lie about everything now". But if your predictions are genuine they are pretty decent and some more. The worrying bit is Stones coming 4th cause most of your Black and Amber forecasts are rubbish.

I think the season so far has been acceptable. We’ve had some good performances to cheer about, but also some real dross at times.
We are roughly where we deserve to be, although I imagine compared to what some teams in the league spend on wages (Dorking etc) the squad probably have under performed.
We’ve got some really decent players we will do well to hang onto, but If we are to cement our playoff hopes we need to start dominating games more and looking more of a fluid side rather than getting lucky with a few goals and clinging on ( lacking in the Dorking and concord recent games).
Havant and Wealdstone are my favourites to go up and rightfully so, I think we will just scrape the playoffs but it will be hard with sides like Bath, Slough, Dorking etc and Dartford/Concord snapping at our heels

The worrying bit is Stones coming 4th cause most of your Black and Amber forecasts are rubbish. The lying is for Margates benefit only. The bookies have sent me a stay ill card as I haven't put a bet on for 10 days and their share prices are soaring. PS. I have been talking out of my arse for so many years now I have almost forgotten what a serious discussion is. I dont like to be serious I like to make people smile or laugh but its f**king hard work with you lot.
