Dirty Laundry - Nickelback Love Don Henley's original but Nickelback really gave it something extra.

Not quite a cover & not quite better but just heard this
Jolene done as a duet with Dolly Parton & Miley Cyrus
Having once been sceptically dragged to a Parton concert by my wife then blown away with what a good show it was, I kept my mind open, this shouldn't work but it does

Had a bit of an Early Van Halen session last night. I'd forgotten how good a couple of their covers were,
You really got me, from the first album. Not sure if it's better than the Kinks' version but it certainly gives it a run for its money.
You're no good, from the second album, blows Linda Ronstadts original totally out of the water.

For those who prefer ' wooden music ' , try these two folk rock covers by the legendary Oysterband & June Tabor:
White Rabbit ( orig Jefferson Airplane )
Love Will Tear Us Apart ( orig Joy Division )

Man who sold the world - Lulu (Bowie) This flight tonight - Nazareth (Joni) Wild World - Jimmy Cliff (Cat Stevens) Morning has broken - Cat Stevens (no idea, but Rick Wakeman plays piano on it) America - The Nice (West Side Story) America - Yes (Paul Simon). Just stunning, especially Chris Squire's bass. Blinded by the Light - Manfred Mann (Springsteen): just what was he on when he wrote those lyrics? Joybringer - Manfred Mann (Holtz) You shook me - Led Zeppelin (Willie Dixon, I think)
Jose Feliciano's Light My Fire and the Doors version are radically different equals and Joni Mitchell's Woodstock and the CSNY version in the same category.
Now need to seek and play all these, some of them VERY loud.
