Forget all about that tin pot FA Cup this is the cup that matters, the big one and we have, surprise surprise, been drawn at home again this time to Dartford fc. I have to admit that I would have liked Tonbridge away for logistical reasons but another home draw means that I probably, lazily will not make the effort on a cold Tuesday in December. Looking on the plus side we should take them at home.

They beat Hampton & Richmond away last week and we didn't.

They beat Hampton & Richmond away last week and we didn't. Both you and I know that football doesnt work that way. I still think this cup would be better played pre season , its gotta be better than a string of meaningless friendlies, unless you get knocked out first round of course.

Perhaps if they organised it as a couple of mini-leagues with the winners of each meeting in the final would work. Twelve clubs would generate five or six pre-season games for each team. The downside is working out home/away advantage as clubs at this level quite like the early gate receipts.

I think it's highly unlikely the Kent FA would consider changing the timing or the format. For the last two finals (at least) they've had decent attendances. They will surely see that as an endorsement of the tournament as it currently stands.

It's become a joke tournament. Sad, but reality.
Bring back the Bob Lord Cup - I'd much rather watch that!

The matches against the Gills in this competition have been a highlight in recent seasons and attracted bigger crowds than some of our FA Cup games.

I'd forgotten all about that competition up to going to a wedding reception at Burnley's ground where they have a stand named after the great man. Seem to remember a midweek coach trip to Runcorn for that competition - might have been 86 or 87?
