We didn't switch off - unless you count the last 85 minutes - we just didn't play well enough to beat a good part-time NS outfit (who, judging by their ground and support, are playing well above their level). There was no difference at the end compared to the rest of the game (bar the first 5 minutes), except that we brought a sub on with less than 5 minutes to go, which probably didn't help team cohesion - H&R could easily have scored the winner at almost any time. They had 2 or three other good chances which could/should have gone in.
I really don't understand why we were so poor - it was pretty much the same team that took apart Ricay, and yet today our defence was constantly found wanting, and our many 'attacks' either broke down, or we squandered good chances. There was quite a lot of pretty football, and the first 5 minutes or so were pretty awesome, but then they broke and scored an excellent goal, and after that, nothing. Our heads didn't go down, but, other than that, we didn't respond. There was no changing gear and banging in a quick reply or two, there was just 85 minutes of the same old same old. Every time we broke, we just wasted the opportunity, every time they broke, they looked like they might score.
Our goal, when it finally came, looked more of a goal keeping error than anything else, and no one was sure if it had gone in - even the players didn't seem to think it had at first. Play like this against Torquay and we're in for a thrashing. Step up and give Torquay a game, and the question has to be asked, "why the f**k couldn't you do this 7 days ago??".
But we had a decent meal, and a nice pint, the coach journey was quick and trouble free, it didn't rain between coach and pub and pub and ground, there's plenty of cover at the Beveree (and free seats), so it was a decent day out - spoiled only by the football.
One odd thing - their keeper started the game in a kit pretty much the same colouur as our shirts. It took then half the game to realise this, so for the second half he came out in an all green kit - with a MUFC badge on it and 'Britelite' plastered across the front!
The end of game pee in the pitch dark was 'interesting' as well...

Early in the season we were playing with Khan,Allen,Edwards and Kyei in midfield and were utter shite ,we dropped 3 of them then went on a good run. Today all were back in the team and we were shite, coincidence???

That’s why my guess is it’s Braintree related as George is our leader and the soul of the squad so if he’s off the boil it goes through the whole team. If so let’s get it resolved ASAP. The club promised an announcement, but we got nothing. The team needs focus before Torquay or we will get creamed.

At half time I said (to Junior and two unlucky old university friends I dragged along) that we'd equalise and then mess it up. Something missing from the current line up but let's face it we still have a hangover from last season.

Play like they did today they will be looking over their shoulders at relegation I just think it’s one of those days. My wife quipped that Big George ain’t been himself for the last 3 or 4 games which is more of a worry. It’s like he has the whole world on his shoulders

If so, that is certainly a worry and could explain the outburst at Braintree. On top form, George is worth two players because of his influence on and off the pitch and as such it would be good to see him stay and get his coaching badges, doing a Simon Walton, only better.

What has happened to George in the last few games may go some way to explaining why he is playing at this level and not the EFL where he should be. Hopefully it's just a small blip and not the beginning of the end as George could become a true Stones legend.

Also sword, watching a few of his tackles yesterday. They seemed to be angry. Does that make sense even. Also hurt himself in another

Not there so can't comment on the game, but did we miss Wishart, and does anyone know why he wasn't in the squad.

Just watched HH's interview, and remembered why I don't usually bother.
"He sliced it?, didn't he" seemed to sum up the game for him. But "we were all in the right places", so that's fine.
Wrong thread - but this did nothing to remove my doubts about the JS2-HH handover.

However, of more concern is where George's head is right now.

Just watched the post match. Can’t find myself warming to HH enough that I’ll be comfortable knowing if he was the main man. Truth is our last few results, Ricay aside we should of done a lot better than we have so it is a concern. Hoping there’s a big turn around for Saturday in what is going to be a mountain of a game with the form Torquay are in, but they are an example of a team relegated but has come back stronger. Are we in the same boat as them? Probably not in comparison
