Jesus, a sub-par performance in a game we still won and the panic button is well and truly pressed. It's the cup, it happens. The other stones only drew against a team in a very similar position to Hitchin. I suspect Hitchin played well above their normal standard, we were a bit below. There really is no need for all the negativity. It's not negativity, Dave, it's just concern that there are still weak areas in the side, which we would have hoped would have been sorted out by now. I've now watched four home games, and only thought we played really well in one of them - and that was a draw. This squad have been playing together for over two months now - 14 games, plus the pre-seasons - and JS2 has exceeded his budget, so I think it's only reasonable to be going to games expecting to see a bit more quality and consistency than we're seeing. Maybe we'll thrash Bath and Billericay and play well against a NL side in the Cup - in which case I can live with underperforming against lower league sides. But how many of us, after the last three games really expects us to go to Bath and suddenly switch gear into a team that plays consistent quality football and doesn't give away soft goals?

Sorry I was thinking of financial gain for the club, not arranging a tour of non league clubs. Could achieve both in one go, although I guess Haringey would give us a good run. I have been to Haringey, its a nice little ground, friendly people and nice clubhouse though no real ale for our more serious drinkers so that would not be nice for them. They are a non stop attacking side who would definitely cause us problems so it might be better to avoid them at this stage.

The northern draw looks trickier than the southern.

How many defeats ?

There is room for cautious optimism, even oldboy seems to have misplaced his panic button for now. John Still in his Friday interview made it pretty clear he will be looking to strengthen the team with a couple of new faces to greet the New Year. All about timing, opportunity, budgetary constraints, good judgement and a bit of luck.

Isnt it something like two defeats in 10 games? Bath and Ricay + a decent NL side in the 4Q - that's what matters.

As they've put a link to this discussion on their forum, I'd just like to say how mature and nice their fans were yesterday. And they're right, we are a bunch of moaners on this board.

Would love one of the smaller London / Kent / Surrey / Sussex clubs away. Away day to a little ground I've not been to before is always my preference in the cup where possible. Failing that, Notts County away.
Knowing us, we'll almost definitely get one of the bigger NL sides at home however...
