3-1 2,315 chips coke pee at half time I am afraid I am in a pessimistic mood about everything at the moment including football. I did not see any real improvement in the way the team played last week despite the 4-1 scoreline. We played well for 25/90 minutes but our lack of effort in the other 65 would have been punished by a better team than Cheshunt. I am going for a 2-0 win for St Albans in front of 2006 and a squirrel. If you need help with the chips put some mushy peas on them and smother them with gravy and I'll be in the town end. Lack of quality maybe, lack of effort, no way. Sometimes lower level opposition has a way of bringing you down to their level. The players did what was required to beat what was in front of them, and to be honest, in terms of entertainment it was loads better than the 10-0 thrashing of Littlehampton a few years ago.

Isn't it the fate of all football fans to be eternally pessimistic? Even when avoiding a potential upset by thrashing a lower level team 4-1.

I think the Dorking match blew a bit of a hole through our pretensions of being play off contenders. We were outplayed for long periods by a team that will be challenging for the play-offs but no better than that. It was a bit of a reality check. Stones look a comfortable middle of the table team now but to improve on that we must beat clubs like St Albans.

We were comfortable throughout without playing particularly well and I don't really think 4-1 flattered us. It could have been closer, but equally it could have been more. I think we'll finish somewhere around the lower play-offs/upper mid-table area. Sorry, just re-read this and realise you and I were talking about different games...doh!

With this wind keeping up until the evening, it's going to be a bit of a lottery.

How can we play this badly and be 2-0?
I suppose the answer is Matt McClure - and Big George.
Other than that it's been a lot of running and hopeful punts, but not much else. If StA had a decent striker, we'd be losing.
End of September now, two months in - I was hoping to be watching something a bit more enjoyable than this by now.
Still, 2-0 is 2-0...

Indeed Our midfield is non existent and pennel can’t decide what clothes to wear let alone what pass to make. Still, good scoreline

Shut up you old misery guts. The sun is shining (nearly), we're 2-0 up, our girls and disability teams are being shown off. This is a club at ease with itself for the first time in ages. Enjoy it.
