Talking of Maidstone Borough Council, spare a thought for thousands of wheelie bins stood forlornly by the roadside, just like Godot, waiting to be emptied by a bin lorry that never arrives.

View Attachment Is Godot the dustbin one? There were no dustbins on stage when I saw Godot in the West End with Alec McCowen and John Alderton. But I have a memory of our current monarch appearing in a play in a dustbin in his youth.

Endgame was the dustbin one. But the picture seemed appropriate. And it’s not Godot waiting. Godot is the one they’re waiting for who never turns up.
So in this analogy, the binmen are Godot. Vladimir and Estrogon are the bins, while Pozzo and Lucky are the residents checking the bin contents every day.
A slightly tenuous reason to use a Beckett image.

But it all goes to pot later when they discover that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead...

I’m seriously impressed by the erudition in this group - are you cultured folks really the same people who sing the world’s least musical chants with me every Saturday?

Yeah mate. We’ve won the f**king lot! As usual I’m gonna upset a few people but that chant really irritates me. Quite apart from the gratuitous profanity because the couldn’t think of another word that scanned, in whose world have we conquered all of non-league. 1989 when we won the old conference maybe, but until we win the NL we won’t have conquered NL since then.

TBF Dave, I've never owned a Gillingham fan on a string, my mother never advised me to get my father's gun and shoot anyone, I'm not really a soldier and so am not in any sort of army and my wife has never been anywhere near Lee Worgan (and I have never lusted after him ever -got close after the play off win though and homosexuality was briefly considered🤣🤣).

In the same vein, I don’t remember selling a commercial vehicle to Lukas, nor can I claim to be Maidstone, now or until my death. I will concede that we have got “Super Elokobi”, but not that “exactly what we need” is limited to Fowler and Rush. In general, though, I do want to be in their number, when the Stones go marching in.
