"Margate FC chairman Gordon Wallis' kind donation means admission charges are being waived." ? Not sure what this means. Entry to Maidstone Museum and all it's exhibitions has always been free.

Gordon Willis is an ex Chairman of Margate FC from a number of years ago and is a genuine Kent football supporter, is is also a sponsor of this event. iMUSC is also a sponsor along with many others. John Bunyard has worked tirelessly to put an exhibition together that fully celebrates Maidstone United through the years and Kent football in general, he is also a friend I have been privileged in my capacity of Chairman of iMUSC to have seen this exhibition on his computer a number of months ago, I can assure everyone that it is truly awesome and a must see for football fans of all ages These exhibitions are not cheap to put together but John has managed to get a number of sponsors on board to ensure that it is the best it possibly can Instead of questioning Gordon Willis and other sponsors, we should be thanking them for their generosity in helping to make this exhibition happen!

Just to confirm, entry to the Museum is always free, but entry to special exhibitions usually has to be paid for. So this is a good deal for all footy fans! John Bunyard has spent more than two years putting this history together, mostly single handed, so he deserves our support. In addition, I've had the chance to see a preview of the accompanying book, which is absolutely fascinating. I don't know what its price will be, but it's worth it!

John Bunyard has an article in this month's When Saturday Comes ("How Maidstone went bust" is on the cover, Bury making us topical again) - blaming Thompson more than the Council, interestingly.

Well it was largely his fault. It's just a shame that it seemed to take about twenty years for many supporters to figure this out. There was a bit too much blind faith going around in the early 90's

I went to the exhibition yesterday morning, it was encouraging to see the number of attendees already... erm, attending. There's lots to entertain, and for the fans who didn't know the club existed until 2012 there is a load of interesting historical information. If you think this is going to be like that other awful "history" in the library a few years ago, you couldn't be more wrong! There are fascinating soundscapes, and StonesTV has put together an exciting video montage. I need to ask him whether he'll be able to make that available for download.
I've also now seen the complementary book, it's terrific, a must for every Maidstone supporter, and I understand it can be bought soon from the club shop. And no, I'm not on commission....

Well this is the difference when true Maidstone United fans get to curate the exhibition, instead of employing someone who doesn't know the first thing about the club. At least one prominent supporter and journalist applied to curate that library exhibition, and was turned down by decision makers who presumably have brains but, it would appear, no common sense. Well done to all involved with making this one happen.

I was going to the museum to see the Egyptian stuff yesterday (school project for my little one), so it all worked nicely for me. An excellent exhibition with loads of historical facts, quirky stories etc. My favourite was the Northwich (?) away game in 1986 which ended in a rather embarrassing draw for us. Nice to see little sections for Angela Reed and Ernie Munn as well.
