Edwards has played 2 games with a knock. Let’s see what he can do when he is fully fit again. I don’t think he is as bad as people are suggesting. Corne is playing pretty deep. I’d like Khan to sit back and allow Corne to supply our forward players. Corne is supplying our forwards unfortunately none of them are 20ft tall or are able to stretch their legs out 15 yards to control the ball that is so heavily overshot. Funny really Jack Richard's who I rated couldn't get a game and Corne who I don't is first choice. Maybe just maybe as Manuel would say "l know nothing"

Thought we were the much better side and the quick free quick completely robbed us. Nice to see us moving the ball around and trying things, rather than the hoof ball we played for most of last season. Really don't get the criticism of Corne - wanted the ball constantly and moved it around effectively. Sure, he looks a little shaky at points but certainly think he'll find his feet the more he plays. Edwards is honestly shocking. My first time seeing him play and he can't run, isn't physical and doesn't look fit in any way shape or form, so he must have one hell of a finish on him because he's got very little else. He stood out as one of the worst performers last night. Going forward we look so light. That's a real worry. JS and Hakan have surely got to be sweating over that striker role because I really can't see where the goals are going to be coming from. Hopefully Embery is the answer. Anyone got Jay May and Frannie's numbers?? Don't agree with the more negative view of last nights game - we weren't bad, and could and should have got at least a draw and I really thought we had the ball over the line in that particular tussle (needed VAR!), and we lost to one lapse of concentration by a player who has been caught that way before. George and Jake were excellent, Hoyte was better and even Corne was better, if not quite there yet. Pennell was truly awful, and interesting to see Hak mentioned him by name many times as theb cause of our defeat, so hopefully Noah will get his chance now. Johnson and Saidou wobbled at times but weren't bad, Justin battled, Nana could - and should - have battled more, and Edwards was ineffective so I am definitely in the "why play him if he's injured" camp - we need to start with Ibby Akindi, he looked much better. Iffy battled, but gets bundled off the ball too much. The ref was crap, and was Wellings twelfth man, but for me Dan Wishart shone on left midfield - powerful, battling, intelligent, and got past people so I don't care what his past is with us, he's good for this level and we need to play him. Finally good point was the way the players - still on the pitch for a post match post mortem - came over to the Stones faithful and high fived a bunch of us, with George swearing to us they will do better, and then beating his chest saying HE will make sure we are better - great passion, and great recognition of the Stones fans who swamped the whole ground - it seemed there were more of us than them, and it seemed more than 1,015 to me - more like 1500. If we play like that at Hungerford with Akindi for Edwards, Wishart for Iffy, Noah for Pennell, and don't lose concentration and take what chances we get, we can beat them. In George we trust, he will make it so! COYS No we can't beat them oldboy we WILL beat them

I cant see how corne keeps getting loads of stick. Granted Saturday game hes set pieces was over hit and our midfield didnt get on the ball as much .. but last night thought he was one of our better players always wanted the ball good in possession made movement so other players can get on it ! Set pieces was better different was there centre halfs wanted the ball more than ours in both boxes.

Set pieces was better different was there centre halfs wanted the ball more than ours in both boxes. Corne was just awful in PSF. Last night was the first time I saw him put in a shift, get the ball, and give some decent crosses or passes, and have movement - agreed. However, his end result in terms of passing or putting people through was still poor (as was others, to be fair). We seemed to struggle to pass to a team mates feet when on the attack, instead putting it ahead, behind or left or right of them, of straight to a Welling outstretched leg. Corne was improved (like Hoyte) but still not good (like Hoyte). Corne probably did enough to get a start at Hungerford (like Hoyte) but we really need to work in training on passing to the players feet or into a space he can reasonable get to without expecting him to shove three opponents out of the way to get to it - especially if you are little Iffy! Hoyte needs to learn how to win it in the air, Corne needs to carry on improving, and Pennell, Iffy and Edwards need "resting", with Wishart Ibby and Noah to start. COYS!

I thought we were alot better last night, than we were on Saturday. Particularly in the second half.
Think Edwards and Pennell have played themselves out of first team reckoning and think Akanbi and Chesmain should start at the weekend.
I'm not sure about Allen in behind the striker. Definitely looks like a winger who is being shoehorned in. Will give Corne time as I think he was better than his Saturday performance, but not overly convinced just yet.
Pros after the first 2 games: Khan, Cole, Amaluzor and Hoyte

By far our No1 signing of the summer, along with Jake Cole. Talking of big summer signings, whatever happened to Clovis? ??

Missing the first 3 matches as in a far-away place but not too surprised by the results so far. Really liked the sound of 'Big George' coming over to swear at the supporters (in a positive way) at the end of the match. It's the sort of stuff that legends are made of.

Someone suggested earlier that Pennell was the worst Maidstone player he'd seen for years. He obviously hadn't seen Clovis in any of his preseason appearances.

Clovis is an odd one. Looks like he is running in treacle. Maybe we are training him up to match fit?
As for Pennell, he has had a difficult start but let’s not pretend he is even in top 20 of worst players we have seen.
To me, he looks like a CB playing at LB. interesting to know if he previously always played as a full back.
Edwards, not the worst start in my opinion. His strengths don’t lie in receiving the ball to feet, or heading. He seems ok with the ball at his feet. Willing to give him more time until I judge but we do need a quality striker in there.
