But just to make sure I'll post another one plus it takes me one more closer to JDL's record no. Of posts.

Poor outlook? Do the flats overlook the pitch? Could understand it if they were next to the Gallagher...

I would have no problem with that. Trouble is it then gets messy with all the play off places, relegations etc which are far from clear. Maybe each league should declare a champion but leave all the other stuff as void and restart next year from scratch. Is that what the Highland League have done?

Keep automatic promotion and relegation, mitigated by cancelling the play offs, so one less relegation?
A lot will depend on when play can resume. At the moment you would think it later rather than sooner, limiting options.

But I'm beginning to wonder if this will be over before July, possibly even before August - so it could be next season as well that will need sorting out.

Nice positive piece from Terry on the OS: www.maidstoneunited.co.uk/2020/03/update-from-club-co-owner-terry-casey/Still talking as if this season is going to resume, though. I can't see that happening, unless it's in August. If we follow the pattern of China, we've got a couple of months of this before things even start to ease off (and then no one knows what's going to happen once restrictions are lifted). That takes us to late May/early June at the very earliest. Another month for the restrictions to be completely lifted (if we're lucky) and we're into pre-seasons for 20/21!

The trouble with it resuming too late is players will be out of contract, and rather than cutting wages due to the crisis, some clubs will spend like crazy knowing they need XX points for relegation or promotion battles. If that fails, players will then be dumped to cut costs. Once we've gone beyond early summer, squads will not be a true reflection of a club this season.

Or we could do the Wayne Rooney idea and scrap the 20/21 season completely and use it to finish off the 19/20 season.
That would be perfect for the premier league teams and the teams at the top of the championship but for teams in the bottom half of the championship to the lowest levels of non league it could be a complete financial disaster the number of teams who would collapse/fold to never be seen again would be huge.
All the ideas that i have seen so far all concentrate on the upper echelons of the football pyramid to appease the money men, but nothing about how the structure further down would be resolved - not one of the suggestions mention how they deal with replacing bury and then how you address the number of teams in the national league (you get the nls and nln champions and playoff winners, but how do you get the fifth team promoted unless you have the nln v nls losing playoff finalists play a one off game, and the winners go up or do you just promote an extra nln team and a team in the northern leagues down to the nwcl who have accepted bury into that league).
But with many teams in dire straits and on the verge of ruin how any leagues will look is a complete guess.
One thing i would like to see the fa do is force the English teams to remain in England for pre season and play friendlies against local lower level sides. Example: Teams like crystal palace, west ham, millwall, Charlton, gillingham play Bromley, Sutton, Ebbsfleet, Dartford, dover, us Tonbridge Folkestone etc.
Then those teams play teams like Sevenoaks, Margate, Ashford, Chatham, Sheppey lordswood etc plus eachother.
To try and get good pre season crowds for the lower level teams to help get some finances for them.
There maybe travel bans on still so why not get the big football teams playing the smaller ones like what used to happen.

Very interesting. Basically they are saying that the leagues underneath us cannot afford to extend players' contracts beyond the normal end of the season, so they have decided to terminate their seasons. They have applied to the FA for permission to do this. The only outstanding question is whether they declare the 2019-20 season void, or come up with some plan for deciding promotions/relegations. And they can't decide this until the NL (including NN and NS) make up their minds. And, presumably [my interpretation], the NL is hanging on to see what the PL/EFL are going to do. So, below us, the season is over - no resumption in the summer, no weird, 2-part season in 2020-21. And for us (and for relegation and promotion below us), it all depends on what the EFL decides to do. And that will presumably be decided by clubs with the money. Whether it suits the rest of us or not.

NL/NLS/NLN are stuck in the middle. They can't unilaterally promote/accept clubs to/from the EFL.
