Seeing who is picked and how they play is becoming a reason to go to Saturday's match. I agree with those who think JS is going as far as he can in terms of criticising players, also that the rest of the season is now pretty much a write off. However, there is something of a question in terms of his reputation. His career clearly stands for itself, but the ability of JS and HH in terms of picking a team and motivating players is not looking the best at the moment. We have the curious situation with the goal keeper - maybe Lewington isn't comfortable with the idea of coaching himself? We have a number of players who seem to have been given way too many chances, yet simply can't/won't turn up in match situations, as per Saturday. Recent signings may not be ready for the NL, but then JS is looking to next season, so fair enough. The crux of the matter though is can he pick a side who will at least put in a performance on Saturday. If that doesn't happen then questions will continue to be asked.

The way I look at it these players will be gone in less than 2 months, so either grin and bare it or just don't go again this season if its gonna stress you out to much.

He Who Must Not Be Named takes over a side that might have avoided relegation, with decent management and a tweak or three, and calls it a complete mess, and implies that JS(1) was a crap manager.
JS(2) takes over a complete mess and is as dipolmatic as he can be - and doesn't try to blame the previous management.
The mark of both men.

I refused to read Shakespeare at school and I'll be buggered if I am going to start reading the rubbish now. Now Ben Johnson is a different kettle of fish.

He has a road named after him in Mile End just behind Sporting Bengals ground.

Precious? At least I’m not asking the owners to apologise! After this season I never want to see a loanee again unless it’s an absolute emergency and why not Lewington No1? We have to build a team around experience and the goalie is a good place to start even if we are committed to playing Henry for a certain number of games. As for being disrespectful to other teams playing academy players what are YOU banging on in about? Other teams would have no qualms doing that to us (FAT). I just don’t see why we have to play players with no future here. It creates soulless defeats like Solihull and Stockport and is a disrespect to paying fans. I get the sentiment and we are all supporting the same team here. My point re academy players was rather aimed at other clubs not the ones we play. So if we played Salford, Wrexham and Orient would not want us playing academy players, and as a professional club, we owe it to the league to try and play with a strong team. Our players need to live up to their side of this bargain though. Re the apology. I no fan of expecting an apology. I would expect thanks but it's a sport and there are always losers. As for Lewington. There must be a reason. He does look more solid I agree. Not sure John Still should comment though as we have 3 goalies. He will pick the one he thinks best - or if there is an agreement with a players parent club - in line with that agreement. Raymondo you represent a voice of reason on this forum. I lay odds of 1/6 that sword won't agree with you.

A further excellent interview with JS on the KM website. Yes we'll be relegated but I'm still looking forward to the remainder of this season & am feeling very positive about next season.

A further excellent interview with JS on the KM website. Yes we'll be relegated but I'm still looking forward to the remainder of this season & am feeling very positive about next season. Two great KOL interviews with John that inspire confidence that he has sussed out the current squad and knows what he wants to do for next year. Love the story about the player he travelled two hours to see and instantly rejected on negative body language. That cuts out 80% of our current squad at a stroke! In JS we trust.
Also, very diplomatic and went as far as he could about relegation and the quality of the current playing staff. It seems he is leaving this lot to decide their own futures, which is totally understandable - however he has been doing that for the last few games, so I don't expect any great change against H&W from the Stockport and Solihull games unless some of the team are starting to listen to what JS is saying and have had an epiphany about their - "if only I had done that" discussions in the pub in 15 years time, and got some belief back? If at least 50% of the starting line up have had that epiphany we may scrape a draw or even a lucky win on Saturday.
Who knows? I don't think even John and Hakan know what to expect at JWW on Saturday!

The Friday interview with JS shows he is very much looking at our academy players. It may yet be we will see a teenager or two in the first team before the end of the season. He is as clear as he can be in saying there are some in the squad who are not pulling their weight, so whoever is NOT playing on Saturday, provided they are fit, need to be having a bit of a think about themselves, one would hope.

Think what you like jakeyboi and I'm sure you will, it's still a free country. Imo, sword manages to project as one of the most erudite and cultured posters on this forum. A real supporter and a decent bloke with a great sense of humour too. BUT on the negative side he so often describes a depressing and critical picture of all things Stones, which conjures up feelings of hopelessness and despair. Just feel the need sometimes to counterbalance the darkness of these bleak thoughts with something a little more amber tinted.
