Pedant
I knew that comment would come back to haunt me!! No I was not at Barrow, what I should have said was “I don’t remember a keeper making a blunder and costing us a goal” 🥴 I’m now going to YouTube to watch said balls up

Oh shit! Add blasphemy to my list of sins. Surely replying to your own posts is a greater sin than blasphemy. Yes I should have gone into edit mode and added it but couldn't be arsed as I was listening to the new Queensryche album "The Verdict" On first listening it isn't great but the second listening moved it up a notch so doubtless it will grow on me.

I think we can all agree unless anyone is his Mum on here that Henry is head and shoulders the worst keeper we have had all season! However our keepers have been our best players all too often!! None of them have made any massive blunders that have cost goals, maybe could have done better with the odd shot. Our defence at times has been pretty solid and up until Blair got injured we did score a few goals. Our most consistent under-performers have been the midfield. This part of the team has seen the least changes all season. They are supposed to protect the defence and supply the attackers. Of the lot I would only keep Phillips, but only for the correct price and mainly as a utility player. I thought Powell was a great signing, but he isn’t very good. His set pieces are pretty bad! He will live off the FA cup goal, but one good one does not make him! I’m really looking forward to next year, We should have the Biggest player budget, with the biggest crowd and the most experianced manager. And the best ground!

Imagine..just imagine if we won on Saturday...or even scored a goal. Just imagine... We might even see some news coming out of the club... absolutely nothing this week. ..a worry? The thing is Steve, if when we score a goal or win a game what will we do, it's been so long that we've all forgotten how to celebrate.

The back 4 or 5 are terrible 8 goalkeepers and we haven’t had a goal scoring striker all season ,not rocket science You are correct in that it is not rocket science that we are not scoring enough goals we are poor defensively and we have gone through a number of keepers. The problem is fixing that issue, that is where we need the rocket scientist to work that out. We need to identify the players for next year's squad now and as soon as the season is over get these players signed up and have a strong squad, but a decent pre season but imo still have some funds available to be able to add to the squad later on in the season with a player or two. This is on the assumption that we don't sign a bunch of players not good enough for the league like this season and then go through more players who are more or less like for like. This Season has been a total car crash from start to finish, we've gone through managers, players especially goalkeepers like nobody's business and the side is never the same you can't get consistency with that amount of change.

Hopefully Saturday the players will show some personal pride as well and put a shift in. All we want is desire COYS They didn't do it at Solihull last week when they were on TV, what makes you think they'll get up for a game which means nothing to them??

The definition of insanity is supposed to be repeatedly doing something that doesn't work, and expecting it to work next time.
Despite everything, I am actually looking forward to watching the Stones on Saturday - because we have to win at home one day.
Don't we?

I think that move actually puzzled many people, if Lewington was injured you could understand but he was named as a sub so assumed he was fit. Plus surely JS and the other coaches could see how much more composed Lewington was in goal, the mind boggles. Lets hope he,s between the sticks on Saturday. The only reason I can think of is that there must be some arrangement with his parent club over how many games he must play. Even if there is such an contractual obligation for him to play a minimum number of games IF we were to renege then the only sanction that the parent club could realistically bring to bear is to cancel the breached loan arrangement and recall the player (notwithstanding any penalty clauses in the agreement). Problem solved methinks! This could even be achieved by negotiation rather than confrontation.

Even Palace can see his limitations. His problem is his speed of decision making. It causes everyone to panic - even our support.

f**k the parent club, let's face it he won't be playing for them again EVER! Even Palace can see his limitations. His problem is his speed of decision making. It causes everyone to panic - even our support. If you watch the highlights Henry wasnt openly a disaster at Solihull, and wasn't openly or clearly at fault with the five goals, and also did do some "normal" goalkeeping too, and my adult son - sadly not a Stones fan as I couldn't get him interested in anything less than Premier League, but did watch the Solihull game - didn't think he was our problem. However, as a fan who has watched him in several games, I think that he definitely is nervy and undecided, with a time delay to his decisions, and either needs to get super confident or he will fall into lower leagues below NL and maybe below NLS and NLN. How he got injured was schoolboy stuff.
Lewington has to be our man, but still no comment from JS as to whether he is in the future backbone of the team, or wants to stay off the pitch as a coach. Come on Chris, put us out of our misery! Its your life to choose what you want to do, but we desperately need a quality, experienced keeper like Worgs (not a rookie or nervy keeper) back in goal for the Stones. Is it you?

As a defender, you want a goalie you can trust behind you, and Henry is not that man.
Even the great Worgs (blessed be his name) got the defenders rattled towards the end - they were noticable calmer and more focussed with Smith behind them.
I am also a fan of shouty goalies, and Lewington shouts more than any goalie I can remember recently at JWW.

Henry is a decent shot stopper. Lewington can also do that, but it is his overall play which means he has to do less shot stopping. The minute he came on as sub for Henry, he looked the part, casually finding defenders with throw outs instead of booting the ball into the crowd. There should be no reason why Henry can't play like that. It is his full time job, he's like as not been doing it for years. Trouble is, football is played as much in the head as on the pitch and Henry is not yet at the right level mentally to play in front of decent crowds it seems.
