Why did some people expect us to play brilliantly on Saturday? We are second bottom of the league and we were playing a form side from the play-offs. Miracles do not happen overnight and when you are desperate for points you take what you can. 1-1 is better than playing well and losing. I expect us to try and grind out results between now and the end of the season.. a few 1-0 wins which is what Chesterfield and others managed. We are not going to beat anyone 3 or 4 nil with this squad. John Still needs much more time to turn this shit-show of a season around. Steveh, voice of reason. I've gone from feeling slightly uneasy that Jay had taken us as far as he could, to despair under HW (though like many I was taken in by the first few impressive interviews / soundbites), to feeling really confident, long term, under the JS-HH-SW team. It's not just the "returning messiah" bit, we needed an experienced person like Still. Whether we we regroup in this league or the one below, I'm not totally bothered, pros and cons to both.

Would have thought you would have to be there to say that. It wasn't rocking, but some of the kids were making an effort. Who can blame them for not bothering to be superfans singing non stop for 90 minutes? Given them something to celebrate and you'll hear them from 50 yards away in another completely different stand. The main stand was trying to get the EE to sing at some points! I shall never understand the noise we make away compared to the library we often have at home. At Orient the choir sang for the whole 90 minutes, even though we lost 3-0. Next home game, it's dead quiet after the first five minutes. How much better would we play with a wall of noise like Orient (or Barnet, or half a dozen other aways)? I'm mystified too. Why doesn't the Stones fans who sing for 90 minutes away sing for 90 minutes at JWW? If they did I am sure the youngsters in the Genco would join in and we would have that wall of sound.

Three reasons for you: * At away grounds, visiting fans are compressed into the same small(ish) area, which makes singing together much easier. At home, spread out across stands + seating areas. * Away games are an ' occasion' , if you've travelled a fair way to a game, you put more into it. * People at away games might be more full of alcohol - always a good lubricant for the singing voice.

Just the way it is, clubs all over. Orient supporters made far more noise at the Gally than the 5,000 in attendance at Brisbane Road. Has always been thus !

I wondered about your third point - especially when the bloke behind us at Orient fell on me! But why more drinking away? I'd have thought it would be easier for home games - more time in the pub, less car driving.

Also, a lot of people travel for the longer away's by train = constant drinking opps, or make a week end of it = constant drinking opps.

Get yourself to Wrexham, excellent day out.

maybe we should stop giving a 12 year old the drum How on earth does that make any difference as to how we played.
