So is the head of football the same as an old style manager? 😳😳😳

Right, I'm genuinely puzzled now.
Before this (ignoring the Wheeler weeks) we had Bill at the top, running the club/business, then Jay as manager, then someone else working with him as coach. But now we have Bill, then Still as manager, then Hayrettin, then Walton, both (apparently) working with him as coaches.
I can't find it now, but I'm sure I saw something earlier that said JS would be getting the players in and selecting the team - so what do Hayrettin and Walton do? Especially Hayrettin, who is an experienced manager, only recently running a NL club on his own. I can't see him just sitting on the bench doing whatever Southall did.
Will JS be nominally manager, whilst Hayrettin actually runs the show? And just what will Walton be doing?
As I said, I'm genuinely puzzled by this - not just trying to make a point.

Agreed but I am sure we will find out in the following days.

I’d guess Still is too old to do the day to day on his own so wanted an assistant.

For gods sake write something positive for once Jesus! What the hell is negative about this??? I'm asking a question because I don't understand the appointments/structure (which bit of "I'm genuinely puzzled by this - not just trying to make a point" didn't you understand?). I'm not in any way having a pop - in fact I'm very happy about the apointments - much better than I was expecting.

No disrespect to Still, but he's only just retired, so I can't see him really wanting a full-on, long-term involvement.

Its no different to when we had Jay as manager, Southall as assistant and Coyle as player coach
Anyway most clubs in this league have a lot more coaches than us, gone are the days when its just the manager and his assistant running things. Heck when Bromley turned up a few months back I was told they had 12 people in their first team coaching setup.

I too am finding it confusing and I am convinced that if we had appointed Hakan alone with no Still these threads would have been very very different and questioning his lack of NL experience as a No1 a la Wheeler. But as everyone has Still rosy glasses on no ones questioning HHs appointment either in terms of his experience or being a no 2 after being a No 1. Also sorry to say but HH is 48 - not exactly a young trainee like Simon. Just saying. Now I’ll shut up and put my Rosey John Still glades back on,

Just hoping whatever the set up is, it gets results on the pitch John Still could clean the toilets for all I care if it means we get three points every week.

Still is a great appointment, Walton as coach is deserved. It’s HH I am concerned about as he seems too close to Wheeler for comfort but I seem to be the only one, so I’ll shut up.

They worked together at Luton when John was manager so I think they both know what to expect from each other. Also why does it matter if hes 48?? there is no age limit to who can and can't be an assistant manager/head coach. Christ we have just appointed a manager who has won this league 3 times and classed as one of the top non league managers of the last 30 years and you are moaning about his assistant not being experienced enough?? Didn't see any of this when Southall was appointed assistant, nor Watty or Tristan Lewis....so why is it suddenly a problem now??
