Interesting thought experiment to imagine an actual British PL - Rangers and Celtic invited in 1st season, then automatic promotion/relegation (non-geographical) from then on. People used to say it wouldn't work because only Celtic and Rangers would be good enough (and it would effectively kill Scottish football). But that was before the massive TV money the PL gets these days. Imagine teams like Hearts and Aberdeen with the prospect of that sort of money... But, of course, Brexit will bugger up any chance of this ever happening... Not the word I would use to describe this thread. You secretly love it!

We shouldn’t have Welsh teams in the English league, never mind advocating Scottish teams

We shouldn’t have Welsh teams in the English league, never mind advocating Scottish teams If Wales had never thrown their lot in with England, I suppose their league Would have been at least as strong as Scotland.

I have a vague memory, back in the Alliance/Conference days, of Welsh teams being not allowed to play in English leagues (by order of the WFA?), except those in the PL (then 1st Div). I think Bangor had to leave the Conference because of this?
Anyone else know what I'm on about?!
Presumably this no longer applies today?
