At least we are in the draw on Monday, who do we want now. I still say the lowest ranked club would be ideal for us.

Played so much better second half, but Macc a shambles once Powell scored. Great free kick too. Did Walton dive for it? Probably. Their defender thought so and Walton was grinning, but about time we mixed it up a bit. Second goal looked well over the line, so must await highlights with interest. Third goal, from Romain, a result of their own defenders clattering the keeper, but given as a foul. Again, highlights will prove one way or the other. No matter, up steps Turgott for the penalty. If anything, had an off day till then, but still looks class. Romain ran his socks off, second half, while Phillips and McClellan growing into the full back roles. Not perfect, but some great tackles. Elvis End were superb throughout. Long trip home for the Macc faithful though. Not much for them to enjoy. So not bothered. Sorry folks... Don't think Walton dived at all, it wasn't even him that got fouled. 😂😂

All about an excellent 45 minutes but in any case the defence is looking so sound now. McLennan really is the real deal. Strange to see Phillips at full back but apart from a couple of clangers very decent. Powell very handy throughout. Great free-kick. Works well with Paxman No need for a tv replay. We did score 3 today. Shocker by the ref. Must have been a yard over the line. Quiet match for Turgott but so cool with the penalty. Cassidy and Romain both worked their socks off. Lastly Walton. At fault with the goal, slow and takes for ever to turn. Not everybody's favourite. BUT great organiser, heads very well, strong tackler and takes no prisoners. For me he does a job for the team.

Walton the one fouled for our opener. Ruth Tunnel agrees with me anyway.

I commented on the crowd to Terry after the game and the explanation was that for a league game ST holders are counted even if they don't attend, but for this game everyone there was counted. Sounds plausible ...ish

Don't forget the small away following compared to some recent games. Looked about right. Can't remember many home atmospheres like that. Well done the kids.

The first half wasn't that bad - just that one defensive cock-up (we'd have been glad of just one two weeks ago!). They were pushing for an early goal and our defence wasn't as solid as at Barnet (home v away again?). But, apart from that, I thought it was quite an improvement on recent home form.
But absolutely NO complaints about the second half, we were superb. That free kick was just brilliant - especially as an equaliser. This may have been a crap season (until recently, at least), but it's been a cracker for spectacular goals. And it knocked the wind out of Macclesfield completely. I actually started feeling sorry for them! You wouldn't wish the season they're having on anyone (except Gills, of course), especially following on from last season.
Both 'disallowed goals' looked good to me. Not only did the first look over the line, but our players clearly thought it was. I might turn out that the ref was right for the 2nd, but from where we sit it looked like they brought their own keeper down.
The 'choir' were superb again today - even had the main stand singing! The Macc fans looked overwhelmed with the noise coming from the other part of the EE during the second half.
I can't believe, even after the last three games, that we're going to stand up to Wrexham, but, from what I've seen so far this season, there don't appear to be any really outstanding teams, so who knows. At least we should give them a much better game than anyone would have expected a month ago.
A nice easy home draw for R2 - and then on to glory in the third round!

Sounds plausible ...ish Looked about right to me - I guessed around 2,200, and wasn't far out. The TE wasn't full, and there were empty seats in the MS. Plenty standing around the pitch, but only 1 or 2 deep. But, if the figures were wrong, maybe it was due to the turnstile problems? I don't understand why there weren't more, but I suppose Macclesfield aren't a great draw (in both senses of the word), and recent home experiences have been so dire that it will take a bit more than a good win at Barnet to get the casual fans back. But, even with good home support, we generally only get towards 2,500 with a decent away turnout. If we ever get anywhere near capacity, it’s going to be a lot more packed than today! As for STs being counted, or not, I've had it from a pretty good source that they aren't automatically counted; attendance is based entirely on the returns from the turnstiles.
