Losses down at Ebbsfleet. www.kentonline.co.uk/gravesend/sport/ebbsfleet-report-1-6million-loss-250990/Grounds for rejoicing, according to someone on the Ebbsfleet forum: My job has seen me reviewing and researching accounts for many years and these were interesting as published on companies house.overall it covers the period to May 2020 and 12 months prior . So about 3 months of the lockdown .
The accounts look relatively pleasing compared to the two years prior which considering the challenges is a good indication of a company heading in the right direction. I note an auditors comment that “new management” began in February 2020 and while that should not have had an immediate impact on the numbers and performance the auditors report certainly indicates this is a major reason in the turnaround trend of the figures .
Any company or football club that cuts its overall losses by best part of a million quid and then enjoys the relatively positive performance and cultural improvements Ebbsfleet appear to enjoy since this reporting period is doing lots of things right .
Probably far from optimal yet but these accounts are strong indicators of a club that understands its balance sheets and accounts and has The intent and ability and know how to manage and rectify things .
I’d go as far as saying the accounts read like the club has strong self awareness and it managing things on the right track and I’d guess many other clubs in EFL and Non-league might wish for similar competent and prudent management in futureLosses down but still a huge loss for a tiny club from nowhere.

This was the bit that caught my eye:

Relegation from a part time league you spent multi-millions getting into is a positive performance?

But such little information is now given in published ' Companies House ' accounts you can't really draw many conclusions - to say the accounts show the club has strong self awareness - hogwash, meaningless words.....

That forum comment is weird and brings no credit to the accountancy profession ......... Dunno whar's worse the big auditing firms or this forum - all of them are utter shiite.

According to their forum, scuffles between bad-loser Ebbsfleet fans and Slough visitors trying to leave the game.
One poster tried to blame it on cheating Slough players. Just saying.

The KM report highlights significant gamesmanship by the Slough players. Feining injury and wasting time throughout the second half. Seems the ref did little about it other than add on lots of time at the end. We've had sides do that to us, so not surprised Fleet fans were pissed off, especially as they lost. Not that long before we play Slough, though feel sure Hak will be on to their tactics.

Time wasting alas is now part of the game, continually rolling about on the floor pretending to be injured is something else. In all my 65+years of watching football, I've never ever witnessed anything like I saw from Slough. Only 7 mins added on time, should have been a minimum of 12, mind we could have had 20 mins and we still wouldn't have scored.!!!! Again it's only a minority of young fans that reacted at the end, being baited by players and fans alike. Another good win for you lot I see.

The most outrageous time wasting Ive seen was against Hampton and Richmond (I think) a few years ago. The goalkeeper spent about 5 minutes tying his laces, feigned injury and took at least an age on every goal kick. We benefited from it though, scoring the winner in about the 7th minute of added time. Other notable time wasters if your unfortunate enough to let the get ahead are concord and billericay. Much as I hate to say it, it seems a valid tactic now and I think as a club we need to be better at the dark arts.

Time wasting annoys me more than anything else. We have all paid money to be entertained and the refs have a duty to clamp down on it but never do. How much actual football do you see in a 90 min game!! If you were watching a theatre show and they kept stopping every 2 mins would people still go!!

Superbowl tonight - not that I will be watching it. Statistically, I believe, there is less action (as a percentage of total game time) than any other sport. As little as 20% in fact. All about stuffing your face and listening to absolute gobshite from the commentators. Want to watch, but have been disappointed too many times. As for proper football, as soon as players realise that refs will add on time (and maybe a bit more), then perhaps they will stop the play acting. Even so, we still only get about an hour's actual action out of a 90 minute game.
