....because we've all been secretly wondering.
16 League games with a win! Surely a club record, is it not?
We, since you ask, yes it is - at least since the club re-formed back in 1992. Our previous worst run of LEAGUE games without a win came back in those heady days of the 1996/97 Kent County League Division One campaign when, after winning 3-1 away at the mighty Rusthall FC in December, Stones proceeded to go a 12 match LOSING streak right through to the end of the season.
Spare a thought though for the Stones side of the 1968/69 season who hold the dubious record of going on an 18 match run without a League win, during which they managed just four draws, in the Isthmian League. At least the current squad have manged seven draws in the last 16 league fixtures!

As I suspected Jay is worse than Andy Ford.

So after the misery of today, we are now just one game away from equalling the old Maidstone United club record winless run. I'm also wondering what the National League games without a win record is.

Which part of the season was the 68/9 run? Ran from Feb 1968 through to September 1969, straddling two seasons!

That would be a year and a half!

That would be a year and a half! Sorry, typo due to these fat sausage fingers! Should have read Feb 1968 - September 1968, thus straddling two seasons.

At least it doesn't straddle when I was born (that Nov), I was worrying about being a Jonah from birth.

I've only got two programmes from that period, which must come from the end of that run, as I didn't keep those for matches we lost or drew: 7/9/68 Isthmian League 3 - 1 v Wycombe Wanderers (Paddy Long 2, Bobby Craig 23,26) 28/9/68 FA Amateur Cup 8 - 1 v Callenders Athletic (Micky Angel 14,26,72, Bobby Craig 27,62, Paddy Long 33,70, Bobby Evans 90). But more memorable for the Callenders goal in the first minute, when a Neanderthal forward bundled our goalie Howarth into the net, and the ref allowed it to stand on the basis it was a fair shoulder to shoulder charge. That detail isn't in my programme, just seared into my memory!
But for those of us who endured the late 60s, struggling against relegation in the National League is like being in dreamland, so we don't get too upset about the prospect of a few seasons in the National South!

You are indeed correct; the Wycombe Wanderers game was the victory that ended the 18 match run without a league win.

We have had many seasons worse than this..when we were actually shocking. Remember the squad at Ashford before Jay took over? And the 96/97 team... this is nothing in comparison.

That season at Ashford was absolutely dire. At least this season we are playing some decent football. It's just a shame we can't seem to keep it going for more than 85 minutes.

there was also the Barry Fry season where he almost took us down, and we lost to Tonbridge in the KSC and Fry had to offer fans their money back we were so shite!
