Cracking goals! Especially Hines. There must be 23 NL clubs praying he leaves at Christmas...
What a fantastic, passing, attacking team we are these days. Jay just gets better and better!
Hard to tell from this video (with NO replays!), but it looks like the keeper got to Pigott's ball and fumbled it in. As no one's mentioned it, I assume that didn't happen?
Where's Stones TV when you need him?*
(*Rhetorical, I know where he was - and wasn't.)

Yes GK squeezed it through his armpit into the net. Taken aback by the audacity.

The latest display is yet another demonstration of how the team has evolved and improved as it has progressed through various leagues. They are great to watch these days and in fairness it wasn't always thus We may worry about the EFL being attracted to our best players and rightly so But the biggest single loss to the club by far would be a certain Jay Saunders His ability to reinvent the team season after season is nothing short of sensational

But I think we are safe, at least for the medium future. I don't think any clubs above L2 (maybe L1?) would be interested in a manager unproven at League level, and I can't see Jay giving up everything he's built at Maidstone (and the potential for further success) for an uncertain future at a L2/L1 club. But once we get into the League, it might be a different story, especially if we continue to be successful. A couple of years of showing how well he can do in the League, and all sorts of clubs will be sniffing around - including some half decent ones with prospects and money...

Still can't quite work out what happened with the Pigott goal - it looks like he squeezed it in behind the goalie, in-between him and the post, but why was the goalie 'diving' the other way? I know it's only highlights (and presumably edited by Stones TV), but we look SO bloody good! The passing and running/attacking is a real pleasure to watch, and we seem to be much better at positional awareness as well (especially being the first to loose balls, goal kicks, etc). But the thing that really impressed me at the last home game was the ball control the players now have. When I was watching both Stones in the Isthmian and West Ham in the Premier, this was one of the areas where the different levels really told. Even when passes were good at our level, the receiving player rarely controlled the ball well, so opportunities were so often wasted, whereas at Premier level, the ball was always neatly caught in the air and trapped. But now I see that at the JWW too - we are quite orgasmic at times!

Hines goals are another example of the damage he does playing 'in the hole'. First one, as he drifts towards the box he has their 14 on one side and 16 on the other but they both stop, neither taking the responsibility of tracking him. By the time 16 decides to do something it's too late.
Second one, one central defender is marking Johan, the other holds his position in the centre and Zavon is in loads of space between the two, totally unmarked. By the time the full back takes over with Johan and the centre back moves towards Zavon, once again, it's all too late.
The danger going forward is that a team in the league will make a proper plan to deal with that and then they'll all copy but for now, he's a nightmare for other teams.

We have three 'forwards' (and two others injured) who can score goals from almost anywhere and at any time, plus other players capable of poaching the odd goal - Macclesfield was a classic example of that. I don't think any opposition will be able to cope with that, whatever their plan. Their only real chance is to try to hit us hard first, and, so far, our defence is looking more than capable of dealing with that.
I'm more worried about Zavon being poached, or racking up too many yellows. But at the moment he is on fire, and our performances are giving Pigott the confidence he needs to score more - and we haven't yet seen the best of the Horse. And if DSY comes back in the form he was in just before he was injured, Jay's only problem will be who does he leave out!
We might just have to face the fact that Jay has assembled a cracking team and we're going to keep scoring goals and winning games!
It's not going to be easy, but I for one am prepared to give it a go.

There is a light at the end of the Zavon tunnel: if he does get poached, we have this other player to come back called Jamar Loza... I don't think Macclesfield's manager prepared them properly for this game, even though he blames it on his players in his post match interview. He says "we talked about Hines, we knew he comes in from the line..." As he has been playing in a central role more as an attacking midfielder, I think their gaffer must have watched the wrong videos where he did play wide in earlier games (Sutton?) and didn't have an effective plan to deal with Zavon playing in that hole behind the front two.

3 years to the day, looking back through this thread makes interesting reading. What stricks me is how closely the two clubs are linked.
