Always a bit of a downer to see players who played for us in the Ryman dropping down to South East Counties or lower. I guess time catches up with us all in the end. And on that cheerful note, I'm off to get my dinner.

I thinks its the fitness and dedication required that means its difficult to sustain playing at the Ryman League.

Chatting today in Sainsbury's with Steve Ward's dad (as you do...) I had no idea what an interesting career Ward had had - including two Trophy finals! He's still playing, well into his 40s, but only at Sunday level (or at least I think his dad said that, the woman on the till was asking me about my bloody Nectar card at that moment!).

Nathan Mavila is on trial at Leyton Orient. That was a really strange one - I though he looked decent Leaves Wingate - bound for the National League: Wingate&Finchley FC Verified account @winfinchleyfc 11m 11 minutes ago More Wingate & Finchley can confirm that @n_Mavila has left the club and will be joining a National League side next week. We are proud to have developed a player that has garnered huge interest from numerous clubs, who will move up two divisions. Good luck for the future Nathan!

Aaron Simpson has just been sent out on loan from Wolves to Kilmarnock for the remainder of the season. Last night, Aaron made his league * debut in coming on as a 90th minute sub, in Killie's 3-2 win over Dundee *in the sense of the top 4 divisions in England or Scotland

Desperately trying to avoid doing shitty job, so thought I'd have a quick look at the careers of Pigott and Hines post-Stones:
Hines:
Played in 8 games (from 9) 3 0 5(6) Starts 5 (subbed off 3 - whole game 2) Sub 3 (unused 1) Yellow 1 Red 0 Goals 0
Impact: Seemingly little - Chesterfield are still exactly where they were when he joined (23rd).
Pigott:
Played in all 10 games 4 1 5 Starts 4 (subbed off 2 - whole game 2) Sub 6 (unused 0) Yellow 1 Red 0 Goals 2
Impact: Possibly critical - without the 3 points from Pig's late goal against Bristol Rovers, AFCW would be in relegation.
I cant see Hines staying at Chesterfield beyond the end of the season (or them wanting to keep him). Nor, I'm afraid, can I see Wimbledon hanging on to Joe - he was brought in to do a job, and looks like he's doing it, but he hasn't established himself as a regular starter. And, after the season they've had, I suspect Wimbledon will have a pretty thorough end-of-season clear-out.
So both could be available next season - would we have them back? Not Hines, for me, despite his skill, too much of a Billy Big Boots - but I'd certainly have the Pigg back if he can't find a League club that's interested.
