Just been barred from the Chequers Sevenoaks for refusing to pay their outlandish prices, wont be going back anyway so no hardship. A combination of factors hitting beer prices. Most obviously, Ukraine war and barley supplies, CO2 supplies, general inflation, cross-channel supply routes and staff shortages OMG call the medics - he didn't mention the 'B' word

Most obviously, Ukraine war and barley supplies, CO2 supplies, general inflation, cross-channel supply routes and staff shortages I agree with all that but the fact that 2 pubs 100 yards apart are selling the same beer the first at a reasonable £4.70 the second and £5.95. A bowl of chips in most pubs are around £3-3.50 this pub wanted £5.50 plus an extra £2 for cheese chips and that sir is just rip off pricing and its no wonder the place was empty. I was barred because I did not like the youngish barman looking down his nose at me and saying" if you cannot afford to drink here sir then why did you come here" and I'm afraid the red mist descended and he was lucky I didn't flatten him. When he used those immortal words " you're barred " I could not stop laughing as if he genuinely thought that I would return.

The medics are tied up tending to those that voted for this

Wonder if QE chickens are coming home to roost after 14 years incubation with effects first coming to financial assets and now leaking into the broader world economy. I wonder. When will this global inflation genie get back in the bottle. Can we live with global inflation after a 40 years of the new world order? I wonder. Do we still remember how to deal with the economic problems of the 70's. I wonder.

Had the vegan macaroni bake with “bacon” bits and a pale ale at the Rainbow Skull. And very nice it was. View AttachmentWhat are bacon bits The only bacon bits i want is bacon from a pig. Vegetarian food should be vegetable and proud of it not TVP with flavour added pretending to be meat.

I think meat substitutes should be banned. If you're that committed you should live on berries and nuts.

People are allowed to eat whatever they want, meat or veg. I’m not a vegan but am open minded enough to try anything. If you don’t like it, don’t eat there. Was only disappointed not to bump into any Dulwich hipster types. Not disputing that, but if you're a genuine vegan you shouldn't need meat substitutes. Either eat meat or don't but don't make vegetable products taste and feel like meat.

Well that's all you need to know about vegan food as daveu has spoke his words of wisdom. I only wish we all had his vast array of knowledge and insight that has made him such a authority on just about everything you care to mention.

So I'm not allowed an opinion now with being accused of knowing everything.

I gave up eating meat because I didn't want to eat it any more (it is, after all, bits of animals!), so the last thing I want is to eat something that feels or tastes like meat. I'm not convinced highly processed meat substitutes are any better for the environment than real meat, anyway. I'd much rather drive through the countryside and see fields of cows than fields and fields of soya and beans - and a bloody great food processing factory.

Why will everybody not learn, he has an opinion which is always right 🤔 DON'T DISAGREE you know he will rant again about my own opinion. Just be grateful the rest of us are different and listen to others and discuss. Over to you and here we go ...........
