Right, since the fall of the Swan, where is the best place to watch football near the ground? Feel there's a real lack up that end of town to watch televised games, and the only one i've found is the Duke Of Marlbrough but that's usually quite busy. Anywhere else?? Not near the ground, unless you hop on the train to barracks station, but Feathers in the Lockmeadow centre does football. Greene King food pub, with a younger crowd. Who are these young beardy blokes wearing shirts of football clubs hundreds of miles from Maidstone? I've been to Feathers a couple of times as I come in to Maidstone West from Tonbridge and it's right near there. Other than just to watch a game I'd never go, but it's fine for what it is. I usually have to leave midway through the 2nd half to get to the ground early, as I always seem to do these days. Shame the Swan closed down as that was always a Stones friendly pub and showed football. I've found myself in Ashes a couple of times recently and well, yeah, no thanks. Staff are lovely in there, I have to say though.

I have today,02/12/21 visited two sheps pubs in Maidstone. The Royal Albion was a disgrace allowing me a pint of the once renowned Hurlimann lager that is now akin to pisswater. The Market House did at least offer me a bottle of 1668, alas it hurts when I see what Sheps have done to one of my favourite music venues. Ah, time to change your usual to proper ale, then Swordy!

Bump for Dulwich fans. Nothing much to report on the Maidstone pub scene lately, apart from the Made Inn going part time Thursday to Sunday. Who knew Maidstonians were too tight to pay £7 for a pint of craft beer? Think away fans are probably best just going straight into the ground in this day and age - the pubs around the ground don't exactly set the world alight. Unless you're willing to hike down to somewhere like Drakes / The Fishermans Arms / Style & Winch, you might as well have a beer in the Spitfire Lounge or from one of the bars around the pitch.

That would be a sage idea if the beer wasn't so vile and overpriced🤬

Really! What about the Flowerpot, The Old House at Home. What about the Society Rooms, nothing wrong with a 'spoons if your looking for an affordable decent pint.

Is this the same company that took over Project Blue in Bank St? I'm pretty sure that was called the Green Room as well. Their timing re the virus was spectacularly unlucky.

There is so much wrong with a Spoons it doesn't even need to be discussed. I'd rather drink a puddle than line the pockets of the vacuous turd that owns that place. Old House at Home isn't in the immediacy of the ground so doesn't fall into the conversation (there are tonnes of decent pubs if you're willing to walk away from the ground, as previously mentioned), and the Flowerpot is a lovely pub but I don't think I've ever seen an away fan in there. My post was just an opinion - for away fans, at this level, our ground has multiple bars and plenty of space, and can be considered a decent option.

Work has finally started on the Cricketers in Mote Road. Presumably turning it into flats - because what Maidstone needs right now is more flats...

Of course Maidstone needs more flats. Where are fleeing Londoners going to live?

I hope you all will be supporting local pubs on this fringe weekend. Good beer and good music everywhere in town. I'll be catching 3 acts on Saturday and money permitting another 5 on Sunday😁🎼😁🎼😁

Nellie Gerkins Irish pub added. nelliegerkins.co.uk/Surprisingly good atmosphere, if a little pricey. Nellie Gerkins sounds like he played 200+ games for us in the 30s at centre back, before being sent off to World War 2
