Grew up near the Blue Door. It had a very bad reputation, although not as bad as the other local, the Park Wood Tavern. As I reached my late teens I was much more likely to be found in town, firstly The Eagle and then later the Royal Albion, or even occasionally The Cock at Boughton before it became a poncy restaurant.

Grew up near the Blue Door. It had a very bad reputation, although not as bad as the other local, the Park Wood Tavern. As I reached my late teens I was much more likely to be found in town, firstly The Eagle and then later the Royal Albion, or even occasionally The Cock at Boughton before it became a poncy restaurant. The Albion (or the 'Bin', as it was known) was a very dodgy pub back in the day. I nearly got beaten up twice in there - without ever doing anything wrong!
