Can some clever brexiter tell me what the Australian deal even means. I don't remember it's mention in 2016. It's a euphemism for no deal.

Canada has a deal, of sorts, although I don't think it includes services (which is the bulk of our trade with the EU and elsewhere these days), but that took seven years to negotiate, not 11 months. When he was Mayor, Johnson 'earned' a reputation for not being a details man, he just decided on things and then assumed they'd happen (i.e. someone else would do the magic involved). Also, with his privileged background, he is used to never having to take responsibility for anything. Just the sort of bloke you want as PM, really. It's going to be a fun ride. Enjoy, Brexiteers.

So we have the same bluster as we had before, basically threatening no deal. That time he signed a withdrawal agreement that included borders with Northern Ireland. This was a deal that had been rejected by Theresa May and borders were something that Alex had told the DUP 'no Conservative government could ever countenance'. I'm watching all this and wondering how long before it will become the fault of remoaners, immigrants or both...

One suggestion apparently is negotiations will come down to fish versus finance. Now, while Boris has gone on record numerous times saying how he will protect our fishing industry ( like he did the NI border), logic says finance will always win because it is economically many time more valuable. Especially to Tory grandees, who can easily fly down to Nice for their seafood anyway. Indeed, a good way of working out where trade negotiations will eventually go is to think what trade elements are most valuable to the Tories. These will be defended to the hilt, while things that have little interest to them, will be lost.

Whatever is coming it cannot be worse than the last 5 years of my life so bring it on. I will cross each bridge when I come to it but I am not going out and trying to find bridges to cross.

So, when Scotland gets independence, fishing effectively ceases to have any significance at all to the 'UK' economy. Still, s'only facts, init?

I will cross each bridge when I come to it but I am not going out and trying to find bridges to cross. It potentially can. Don't forget it was the people now in government that advocated cuts to disabled people, not the EU. In fact, the things that have affected you as a result of policy would be, I would imagine, almost entirely down to the UK government. Of course I appreciate that there are personal things in there that could not have been affected by government or the EU and that may make you feel that the anti-EU narrative, complete with falsities about the Lisbon Treaty etc, put forward by rich old men owning newspapers etc was the right path to follow. We now have to hope that Mr Johnson negotiates something great. Remember his track record is not great. Brexiters have so far celebrated a deal worse than the one that Mr Johnson once described as worse than the one we already have and it includes border checks between us and Northern Ireland. Here is a video to show what Mr Johnson said about that in 2018. www.newsletter.co.uk/news/politics/watch-boris-johnson-tell-the-dup-in-2018-he-would-never-put-border-in-the-irish-sea-today-he-put-a-border-in-the-irish-sea-1-9110754

Indeed, a good way of working out where trade negotiations will eventually go is to think what trade elements are most valuable to the Tories. These will be defended to the hilt, while things that have little interest to them, will be lost. The finance sector effectively runs this country. In 2008 they brought the country (not just this one as well) to its knees, demanding vast sums of money way in excess of anything paid to the EU. That quickly became the fault of the unemployed, people claiming benefits, single mothers, overpaid police, teachers and firemen and then finally, immigrants. All delivered through those bastions of balanced thought, the Daily Mail and The Daily Express with a side helping from The Telegraph. The EU introduced some measures against financial firms (capital holding ratios I think - someone with more of an idea on this front might be able to add their two penneth worth here) and strangely we want to leave the EU. Fishing will be sacrificed make no bones about that. There will be a little resistance but that will be for show because it isn't the overall important factor. Avoiding EU rules that stop financially rich people grabbing more, at the expense of the masses, is, for me, the reason for Brexit and nothing that has happened so far has made me waver from that opinion. However, if someone with more knowledge than me, can show me different I am willing to take a different view. medium.com/the-jist/was-eu-tax-evasion-regulation-the-reason-for-the-brexit-referendum-980ba88a8077

So we get rid of one thread full of political tripe to the non Maidstone Utd section only for you to hijack another one to continue your obssessive ramblings. And yet another thread you have changed the name of to suit the boring drivel you spout. As you are into percentages heres one for you. The percentage of people interested in your obssession 1% and that 1% is you.

As I suspected, a brexiter would get all foamy-mouthed if the role were reversed. So now I have hijacked my own thread. Interesting. Oh and the reason it is here is because Barney tried to annoy me with it. Hilarious stuff. As for disinterest. You answer loads for someone with no interest.
