I don't really care about Margate either. So who are our real local rivals now? (Yes, i've read the e-book...) Bromley Dover probably Ebbsfleet in National next season Welling Dartford Margate possibly Ebbsfleet possibly Tonbridge in Nat S Bromley, Welling no real rivalry at all? Margate Dartford Tonbridge mutual dislike but I'd say Margate a distant 3rd on that list. Ebbsfleet dunno really - do they dislike us as much as we do them? Gillingham. It will always be Gillingham. Southampton and Portsmouth don't stop being rivals just because there are a few leagues between them. Gills and Maidstone are the two biggest clubs in Kent. Discuss.

Charlton and Gillingham are the two biggest clubs in Kent surely? Surely if you include Charlton then Millwall must be the other club.

They're not in the Kent Cup. Pipe down.

They're not in the Kent Cup. Pipe down. So your original statement should have read, '...two biggest rivals in the Kent Cup'

So that's 3 points Sutton don't have to worry about...

Will be interesting to see if this younger guy has anywhere near the financial backing as the old boy he is replacing. Age is an odd angle for the press team to take at Margate. Are they suggesting older people cannot run football clubs?

Laslett, and every Margate fan, would I am sure cringe if they re-read the comments in the last few sentences of that article. The next Brighton or Southampton? As the forum's unofficial demographics man, I will give you the stats:
POPULATION FIGURES FROM LAST OFFICIAL CENSUS
Brighton: 281,076 Southampton: 253,651 Margate: 57,008
Total population of Thanet: 134,186
I suppose it's gloating to say "we told you so" but let's face it, we did, didn't we? It was always going to end in tears, just like the Rodney Marsh - Neville Southall thing at Ashford all those years ago. Big men, big ideas, no lasting end product. Another complete miscalculation by a businessman who didn't do his homework properly. It will be Ebbsfleet's turn next.

Too soon to say it'll end in tears. Even if the money has gone they will cut their cloth and regroup at a level they can afford. There is no suggestion that the club is in danger of going bust. Personally I wish them well and hope they can overcome present difficulties.
