Didn't someone, on another thread, some time when, mention that Hartsdown Road was owned by Thanet Council? I think the club now have a long term lease. However I think I also read that the council were putting some pretty harsh conditions on planning permission for further development of the ground, one of them being that the club had to demonstrate that they could consistently attract four figure crowds. Who'd want to live under the control of Thanet District Council???

Yes it must be awful having a local council that is so unsupportive of its football club. How lucky we are to have MBC.

All very well saying build it and they will come. if they aint got planning permission they can't build squat. anyway this is from the km. it'll probably turnout to be clickbait. Well maybe some of the money should have gone in brown envelopes to some of the councillors!! Ha Bit disappointed by the cynicism of that post Steve. It's not as if any Thanet councillors have been jailed on entirely baseless corruption charges.

The one good thing if its true together with the problems at Whitehawk it should cool down some of the ridiculous wage demands at this level.

If Thanet council keep closing doors on the chairman you can kind of understand why he might decide he has had enough, but as others have said it does highlight the problems when you have a chairman who isn't really a supporter of the club they run. If he was 100% dedicated to the club, would he consider jumping ship in times of difficulty?
Anyhow, I think those speculating that it could ruin the club are being a little premature, bearing in mind the fact for all we know, Laslett could be negotiating to sell to someone just as wealthy as he is. Time will tell.

I don't really care about Margate either.
So who are our real local rivals now? (Yes, i've read the e-book...)
Bromley Dover probably Ebbsfleet in National next season Welling Dartford Margate possibly Ebbsfleet possibly Tonbridge in Nat S
Bromley, Welling no real rivalry at all? Margate Dartford Tonbridge mutual dislike but I'd say Margate a distant 3rd on that list. Ebbsfleet dunno really - do they dislike us as much as we do them?
