I do too though a mere layman in the ways of theology. Shatty has to understand that the vote proves nothing either way except the prevailing thinking amongst the forums users. I dont think God is greatly worried by votes of 'no confidence'. After all it's been that way for a couple of thousand years now.

With all the grief religion causes you would think he would pipe up every now and then...Or maybe he enjoys watching people suffer.

So vindictive rather than loving? I'll not try too much to be an 'apologist' for God but leaving to one side the abuses by and in the name of God, my own experience of a pure and loving brand of Christianity has seen so many transformations and changes. I remember hearing a young boy of eight or nine with terminal cancer being asked if he blamed God. He replied 'No' as he believed he'd have all eternity to make it up to him. I hate seeing suffering, hunger, hatred and oppression Matt but try to do the best with who and what I am. You know the battle I had with booze and I needed devine and practical help to beat it! I'm no angel mate but I definitely know some.

I believe we are here as a result of one big chemical reaction, rather than a creation from someone who calls himself God. I can understand people having a belief to help them get through tough times, but watching and reading all the evil and suffering going on in the world day after day. Why would someone sit and watch something the care about so much about destroy itself?

I like him lots JT Intellectual, respected, funny and extremely well off. Happy? Manic depressive? Content with life? I did say I hadn't set out to be an apologist. Though not as well known or as widely respected as him I feel able to put the case for the defence if one is really needed.
