Just discovered something rather weird.
Go into Google Street View and 'drive' down Whatman Way on the way to the ground. When you get to the main gate, turn and face the stadium, then click forward, as if you were going into the car park.
The stadium disappears!

There should be a box, top left hand corner, where you can choose which year the pictures were taken. You can choose between 2009 and 2014. In some places, you can choose between three dates - it's quite interesting, watching familiar and forgotten sights re-emerging and disappearing. If they keep all the years they film, this is going to be a really useful historical resource.

Never really believed it was going to happen, after so many false starts. It still feels very special, almost unreal, to be standing in the Town End watching Maidstone. I wonder how long that feeling will last. It was such a shock to me when my club disappeared, that I still have moments, even now, when I wonder if it's all a dream and the Gallagher will literally disappear. I wonder if even Oliver, Terry and Bill realise just what bringing the Stones home means to those of us who watched the old club die...

What a sad bunch we are. I was always making excuses to go past James Whatman Way to see if anything was happening at the site. Even convinced my wife it was the best place to park whenever we had to go into town for any reason.

Ground spotting was really fun, I remember nipping down on a Sunday morning, the guys were sticking the Roof on the club house, the Carpet had been laid minus the black balls and the tons of sand, I was just peering through the gates, when the Site officer walked past, invited us in, I had tears in my eyes, the guy said don't worry mate you not the first bloke to shed a tear in here, I thought this was just another Job, I did not realise what it meant to so many people, don't worry we will make sure its ready for the Brighton game, and then he left me on my own, standing in a building site, with the widest of grins

Train spotting is really fun, I love nipping down to Maidstone East on a Sunday morning and watching the guys driving the locomotives. I was just peering through the driver's window, when the guard walked past and blew the whistle. I had tears in my eyes, the guy said don't worry mate you not the first bloke to shed a tear in here, I thought this was just another Job, I did not realise what it meant to so many people, don't worry we will make sure its ready for the Brighton run, and then he left me on my own, standing in a station, with the widest of grins There you go Trolley. I've made the necessary corrections

Non-football people have no idea what all this means to us.

I can remember the little stall that was set up at the Ashford Homelands ground, which showed a sample chair top and sample brick, so you could see what your chair plaque and brick would like with a name on, and i got the form and bought both a plaque and a brick straight away, even then it still seemed like a distant dream, yet under a year later, there i was in the old college road office, choosing my seat from the plan on the wall.......
I also recall That monday in August 2011, when i was workin on the 1pm to 8pm shift in my old job, and work mate said "here i passed whatman way earlier, and saw somthing going on down there, let go an dlook after work" So, we went down there on our way home and was confronted by the site of a generator and a power cable. After that i would often go on a sunday morning and take a few pictures of the building in progress. I remember one sunday I ran into Bill Williams and his wife down there, and he pointed out a few things to me. Oh the Memories!
