Hi all, Just putting it out there about Maidstone, Upsides: Lots of money Good owners Good pool of players. Decent stadium. Lots of publicity. 3G Downsides: Will the money run out? Not enough space to accommodate new fans and glory hunters! Restrictions because of membership. Restricted parking. Where will you find new investment ?
What business model are Maidstone using?

Really? You may be over-analysing things.
Will the money run out? Who knows? Apparently the club is self financing and not overspending.
Not enough space to accommodate new fans and glory hunters. Define glory hunter; it doesn't apply to anyone I know. Just local people ignoring the Premier League to support their town club. That's pretty insulting. There are plans to finance and build two new stands to be built as and when required. In the meantime there are hundreds of empty spaces at most games.
Restrictions because of membership. I could join two different schemes and get the benefits. Nobody is barred from membership. The cost is £5! Not being a member has never restricted me from supporting my local club in any way whatsoever (got my FA Cup ticket on the morning of the match). I may join at some stage in the future, I may not..
Restricted parking. There are hundreds of surrounding paid spaces. Railway station, KCC, Fremlins etc. I usually get the bus, train, or cycle. Give me a town centre site over a motorway junction any day.
Where will you find new investment? I don't know or care. Not my problem.
What business model are Maidstone using? That big green plastic and rubber thing called the pitch. It seems to be in use seven days (and evenings) per week.

There are no downsides. Will money run out - if its run like it is now then no They are expanding the main stand next season and then behind the goal far end Parking is not a problem now nor should it be, even if we had 10000. Park and Rides, trains, buses etc Gilligham have no parking! We don't need to worry about investors at the moment.
In my eyes the club is being run sensibly for the first in its history

It doesn't matter what kind of fan they are. If you get promoted which you will, that doesn't give you enough time to build. The capacity needs to be 3000. Parking wise, there isn't enough! There are too many stewards but I will be joining via train on your football league away days when you get there.

Don't see the issue with parking. We may not have much but we've more than a lot of others. Also ample parking around the town within walking distance.

Massive surge in attendances if we go up to Conf S, not going to happen. Current capacity is fine; problem is poor visibility at big matches. Bit strange to not see the ball hit the back of the net once at the Littlehampton game! Yes we do have enough time to build - read the posts above. Parking is a sight better than other grounds - again see posts above. Too many stewards? Eh? Really not quite sure what point you're trying to make.

I'm not saying there is a lack, what I'm saying is there is not enough for the size of the club. The Parking there is, is inaccesible to many eg disabled, old or families.

Everybody should get a good view. The amount of stewards gives a bad impression of the club eg you can't control the fans. I will be interested in raising money for you when the Tom West football fund starts. I'm just pointing out what doesn't want to be talked about.

It would be great if that water main could be moved and a terrace, just a few steps, put along the west side. Remember everyone was envisaging crowds of 800. We weren't expecting all these bloody Charlton fans to turn up... but by the end of the decade at least two sides if not 3 or 4 will have expanded. I was impressed by the ongoing litter-picking by stewards at the Littlehampton game - comes across as very professional and tidy rather than being ankle deep in Tim and Nigel's empty beer glasses. Stewards are not just there to control bad behaviour. Yes it's a reaction to incidents like the Wealdstone game but it makes the ground feel safer. No way does it give a bad impression. No need for any police (ever?, or have they come to a couple of games?)

A big factor for the long term growth which can't be overlooked is the community teams. We now have various teams disabled, boys and girls that now feel part of the club. They get to train on the pitch and the club does involve them behind the scenes. If 25% of these kids choose Maidstone as their club as opposed to a premier team or other unmentionable Kent clubs then that is where our sustained growth lies.

Everybody should get a good view. The current set up envisaged 800 spectators. Sight lines are not good enough, so (as already pointed out) the club have plans to finance and build two new stands. Too many stewards? It was one of the most high profiles matches since returning to Maidstone. If some idiot had thrown a beer over you it would have been complaints of poor stewarding. Don't want to talk about problems? Please pay attention. This forum proves the opposite, ad infinitum over and over again. Sometimes people never bloody shut up! I hope you enjoyed your first game at the Gallagher and will return often. But I get the impression you just want to argue, so I'm out.

We've still only just made it back to Maidstone really and few could have predicted how many people would turn up on a regular basis. Even Premier League clubs can't magically sort things overnight and the owners have definitely given me the impression they're doing all they can. We just needed a ground back in Maidstone more than anything, we've got that and it's a great place to go and watch football.
There are some minor issues but no more than most clubs and there are plans to increase capacity and so on, but as I said it can't happen overnight.

Sight lines are currently only a problem for the big games. For our average 1500/1800 crowds there's plenty of room around the pitch barriers. We will however (I think I'm right) have to increase the capacity to 3000 within a year of being promoted to the conference.

I wonder if the new stand will involve a family section because perfect sight lines for younger children are zero unless thay have a seat.
