Jay Saunders and the whole Maidstone squad. Today we were awesome in every department. i was concerned when they pulled a goal back but we just seemed to step it up again and looked highly likely to pick them off. We played calmly and kept shape well. We defended well, the middle of the park won lots of ball and distributed it well, the forward line caused problems all day long. The biggest criticism you could give was the fact that we missed at least three gilt-edged chances. Very impressive. I hope the lads get a big tie in the next round so they can experience a trip to a big stadium.
As for the atmosphere...well, best summed up through a little anecdote. After the game I walked up past the Hare and Hounds, past the prison wall and started walking up the next road. I got about halfway up when a guy coming down the road asked me how we had done. When I said we had won 2-1 he said that he had guessed we had because he ahd heard the roars from his garden!
