Just heard Jamie Day on BBC Kent talking about the pitch. Never heard such a load of rubbish and contradiction. Said that injuries on 3G need to be looked at as 2 we're injured today.
Some thoughts for Jamie, a man who could have shown some class and lost gracefully:
1) Why have your players spending at least 4 hours a week playing on 3G during training if it's such a risk?!
2) Why come down and play us on it in pre season if it's such a risk?!
3) Why loan us a player last year to come and play on it if it's such a risk?!
4) Why mention today's injuries in relation to the pitch, but not mention the grass pitch later on in your interview when you mention another player recently out for 6 months?!
The answer to all these questions is simple. His team didn't get the job done and it's easier to make excuses than confess to not being good enough.
Jamie - show some class next time, uninformed comments like this can damage a football club and all because you can't simply admit you were beaten by the better team.

Agree with all the above the classic "Im all for 3g but...." Never once heard a winning team complain about the pitch. Wings were outclassed today simples

He is a man under enormous pressure. I was behind his dugout early on when the ref told him to can it - his outburst was ridiculous. He was tense from start to finish and that can perhaps lead to misjudgements in what you might say after a game. He knows full well how ordinary they were, and how good we were. It was a great match and we deserved to win. This won't be the last time a losing side blames the pitch, we are just going to have to deal with that as it comes because it is an obvious target where apportioning blame is concerned. At our place, it's an easy alternative to blaming the ref for all ills!

It's a real pity he didn't reflect on his thoughts before speaking to the BBC. The Welling fans I stood with were very disappointed with their performance but didn't mention pitch etc at all" if you look on the Welling forum that seem to accept that they were beaten fair and square on the day which is what the cup is all about - team against team on the day! Comments like his could be very damaging and when they are not backed up by facts they are nothing more than lies.....

Jamie Day's view on 3G pitches when Welling United win a match.Wind forward to 3.02. Seems to me this should be posted to the Welling forum seeing as some of their fans are now heavily critical of it.

Just another idiot with the same old excuse when they know they should have got a result. Think Jamie, think. You've embarrassed yourself, your club and worst of all, welling fans. You sir, are an arse.

I thought it was only women that were more prone to injuries on 3G, something to do with wider hips. Says a lot about his team then.

I must admit I was a bit gobsmacked when he gave the interview he did. I can omky imagine that he had forgotten about this interview for wings tv. The man is an absolute joke and welling should be embarrassed with the performance and their manager.

I think we are actually well past the stage where we need to defend our pitch in the light of such negativity, teams who win on it love it and shock horror some teams that lose on it blame it which I find highly disrespectful to our team, but we need to accept that's the way it will be.
As for injuries I just saw on the Welling forum someone claim both of their injuries were caused by rolling ankles on a pitch where there was no give in the "grass". Firstly I'd like to congratulate this eagle eyed fan for having such an excellent and informed view of the incident(s) which seems to contradict previous posts where he was complaining about the fact he could barely see owing to the appalling sight lines at the GS.
Whenever anybody talks about injuries caused by 3G it's always done with the assumption that no player ever gets injured on grass, Richard Davis sat on the bench yesterday for the 2nd time after receiving a career threatening injury in the FA Cup last year. Those at the game will remember the procession of ambulances that turned up owing to 2 Merstham players receiving similar injuries. I don't recall Jay laying blame on the pitch and I doubt the pitch was "looked at" owing to the fact it was real grass.

I did a scouting report for Dover on Welling, the season that Welling went up. They drew 1-1 and Dover should of won! I think there should be more 3G pitches to protect the future of non league. Maybe Margate should get one when they finally renovate there ground. There should always be grass pitches though. Teams should give part of the extra money they get from 3G back into football!

He should look at player discipline as well. May have made a difference with 3 first team players missing. Can't think who they were now.

Over the last couple of years I've seen like most of us a 50/50 split of matches played on 3G and natural pitches.Taking my amber tinted specs off I've come to the conclusion with the injuries I've seen that 3G might result in more grass burn type injuries compared with natural grass and the more traditional type pItches produce more of the broken leg, smashed kneecap career ending type of injury. If anyone has been watching the same games as me you can only come to the same conclusions.
