We nearly got to Wembley once. I can't remember the year (or even which cup it was), but it was back in the old London Road days. We were drawn against Wembley FC away - the only problem was that they still had to replay their game, and they lost! But we did have one game where we could legitimately chant "We're going to Wembley"! I guess the play off semi-final didn't count as another game where we could chant it? I'm not resorting to smileys, even for you, nws. But, curiously, I don't remember any such chants at the Cambridge game. There may well have been, but my memories of the day are mostly the sheer discomfort and disbelief at how we were treated - penned into cages like animals (and not allowed out until well after the game had finished).

Has anyone got a program from yesterdays game they dont want, as they could not get one yesterday Talking of programmes - was there one for Tuesday's LC game? There were none on sale by the time we got there. Obviously, they might have just been sold out, but I never saw anyone reading one in the ground either.

Only a single A4 sheet folded in half available free from the turnstiles. This is usually the case with league and Kent cup games.

We lost due to the bloody stupid rule (still in force I believe) that you only benefit from away goals after extra time, which effectively gives an unfair advantage to the team who are at home in the first leg. I'm pretty sure in most other two legged competitions we would only have played extra time if the game at our place had finished 1-1.

From memory we set out for a 0-0 and Cambridge were worthy winners on the night.

I'm pretty sure in most other two legged competitions we would only have played extra time if the game at our place had finished 1-1. Why is the advantage to the team playing the home leg first? If we had drawn 0-0 there then it was 1-1 at Watling Street after 90mins they would have been in our position. Any rational thinker would believe that we got the advantage because after playing 180minutes and still being at stalemate we had another 30 minutes on home soil. Ally that to the fact that being the owners of the away goal after 90 mins at Watling Street we would have been satisfied with playing out another 30 minutes. They had to chase a goal.

Because they had an extra half an hour to score an away goal.

The point is both teams had an extra half hour to score another goal but theirs would have been worth more than ours.

The point is that only one team had an extra half an hour on home soil while the other had the disadvantage of having to defend their goal away from home for a whole 30 minutes more.

I think our home form last year proves that being at home is no advantage.
