So Jay is criticised for not being tough enough, now beong criticised for being mean and letting his mate go?

So Jay is criticised for not being tough enough, now beong criticised for being mean and letting his mate go? Fair criticism if the same person is doing both! Being a fan of Jay doesn't preclude any judgement on how a 'good friend' appears to have been treated! Or is free thinking still banned?

Not at all, I'm just confused as to how the guy is criticised one minute for being too nice, then its fair to criticise him for not being nice enough (without anyone knowing how the conversation went). Seems he just can't win in some people's eyes

The reference being made was in relation to how someone would expect to be treated by a 'good friend'. Maybe I am extremely fortunate, but I have never felt the need to question how I have been treated by a good friend or vice versa. I don't know the full facts, but no doubt you are privy to more details. Maybe I am alone on this but an announcement of effectively sacking a good friend on the eve of a new season would always raise some doubts in my mind on the integrity of the comment

I know no more than anyone, I just believe in the adage that there's no room in football for sentiment. Yes its unfortunate he's had to let his mate go but he's surely doing what he thinks is best for the team/club...and what a lot of people have been suggesting for a while.

Have to agree that this move was always a possibility as Jay needs a second & perhaps different input from those assisting him. This has nothing to do with friendship. It's a case of having the best people around you to make you succeed.

Jay mentions Wardys three week holiday in the interview on the OS.Strange time of the year for someone in football to go on holiday, maybe having a bearing on Jays decision ?.

Overall this is a positive move Steve what a great guy but its all about winning games. Jay's weak point as a manager in my veiw is he is unable or unwilling to change things around during games. (Remember Liston away) So its even more important that the number two is always given other options and views when things are going pear shape. Sadly I don't think Steve was ever that sort of coach so I think it was the right move all though it did seem harsh at this stage but well done Jay . Now COYS,

Can't really understand why some people think there must be a falling out or anything untoward about this. Why shouldn't it be that it was something that worked out well for both parties and that Jay hasn't stitched up his mate at all?

Have you learnt nothing?

Asst Manager sacked just before season starts - and is immediately replaced.
Surely the obvious answer is that Southall became available/expressed an interest, so Ward had to go?
