Am I missing something here?
In the last few weeks we've seen contract extensions for Worgs and Jay, plans for a new stand unveiled (I know this isn't news), Bill talking about reaching the football league within 5 or 6 years, the NLP declaring we are postponing our legal action,Helen Grant and The FA coming out in huge support of 3G, a player leaving, Jay failing to sign a couple of players from higher leagues, an appeal to the FA about the play offs, the conference defending their voting system ie highlighting the problem they have, we're not even talking to the conference any more.
And yet, strictly speaking we are still in a position where we can't progress any further up the pyramid or even compete in the play offs.
Instinct is telling me we are expecting 3G to be allowed in the conference the season after next, and all of these plans being laid out are for us to go all out in the Ryman Prem next year.

He probably felt he couldn't partner with that donkey sobers any more. Sobers was the one we needed gone by a mile I suppose we all see games differently but I thought he was immense against Hornchurch and our best defender against East Thurrock! Completely agree, been to the majority of games this season and although he's no Stevie Watt I think Sobers has been decent and was a class above against Hornchurch! Although Andrews has done well for the club I think he's the obvious choice to be replaced and think a new CB coming in is definitely needed.

I am sorry but I have never seen Sobers kick it without shinning it! I always compare the CB'S with the team we are facing and apart from a few very good performances he has looked very average indeed. This is the area we really need to strengthen.

Jay said on stoneslive a few weeks ago that he was after a defender so I'd be amazed if there wasn't someone on their way in.
plasticpassion has it spot on, without Watt there's no communication at the back - he has been a huge loss

Andrews a good defender if our ambition was to remain a Ryman Premier League club.
I think Jay has more ambition than that.

Saw yesterday that Richard Avery was released by Margate after a spell at Chelmsford City on loan (player turnover there is incredible) very decent holding midfielder and was motm on our trip to Margate earlier in the season, I think at times that's where we've been lacking - CB's have not been at the races but the protection so often is non-existent and I've lost count of goals coming straight down the middle.

Totally agree that there has been a deficiency in the holding midfielder/centre back department for a while now. It is easy to criticise the 'defence' as a whole when goals are conceded, but the more successful teams protect their defences who can hold a line and defend in numbers against the front men, rather than having to push up and pick up a number of opposition midfielders pouring through the middle, best seen in the away defeat to Harrow Borough, where they attacked in numbers through the midfield and completely overran the defence time and time again

;)What we require is a souped up version of Danny Lye or Tim Olorunda.

I'd take Andrews over Sobers every time. Mr consistency over Mr Great one game in three. We need central defenders who can head the ball out rather than straight up in the air.
