I wasn't at the match so it's rather unfair of me to comment I appreciate - however from reading so much written about the problems it would seem to me that there needs to be a lot of thought put into these types of games in the future.... Wealdstone fans are fairly well known for following their club with 'passion' that perhaps can bubble over at times, it's well documented, so shouldn't have come as a shock, therefore perhaps extra measures could have been put in place. More stewarding, more capable stewarding perhaps, a little less attitude from security (I've seen that first hand at the Gallagher last season until it was pointed out to him who I was and why I was there) a lot less worrying about drinking alcohol and getting 'tanked up' (if you're that bothered about drinking just stay in the pub and not go to watch the game), not either pretending you're back in the 70s & 80s or an extra in Green Street and looking for some action with the other teams 'crew' etc etc ...it's non-league football, people come to watch it because it's good value, safer, more honest, local, and you can cheer for your towns team of players who might very well work along side you during the week...don't spoil it or let it be spoilt please

I also missed the match Keith and reading what I have so far makes me feel lucky that I did. I really hope that this is just an isolated incident as otherwise I need to reconsider my support as at 44 years old, that sort of crap not what I want to get involved in. Russ

Hopefully it's just something that won't be repeated (or allowed to be repeated) again and this was more of an isolated one off issue than anything the club needs to worry about too often - however they can't be smug enough to believe it cant happen so perhaps a new way of pre match thinking might be in order for some of the larger clubs in the division in future. Like you I'm 44 (as indeed you know) and have been following this lovely club since I was 12, fingers crossed I never have to rethink that situation

Russ I'll join this special thread for 44-year-olds and add that I'm thinking exactly the same thing as Russ. Not the sort of atmo to embark on a 215-mile round trip for. Likely to go to a couple of away games and start watching Abingdon United (walking distance) as things are.

I'll be 48 by the time this season ends and on Saturday evening I was more than prepared never to go and watch the club again!
I have since calmed down and vowed not to let the morons win.

The ones we are unlikely to meet again this season. Come on, Russ, your posse will protect you. At least Tim will. Or he might. Actually, best not to count on it, bring your own security.

Joining this 40 somethings thread, I looked at Saturday and thought, 'Do I really want to watch something like that?'. It's unlikely I will stop because of one incident from, let's face it, fans with form and seemingly no acceptance of responsibility. If we don't sort out the problem in our midst and this becomes commonplace then it will be more Herne Bay than Maidstone United for me.

Might not be the Russ you're thinking. This is a young interloper, I'm 49 The other Russ is welcome to join us though, we're mostly harmless

please . we all know that the problem was with the away fans ,so many stone fans want to point the blame at {un0ficial} stone fans lets get real this is not sunday league ware fans swap ends at half time and with no real safety measures being used if a major problem occurred stones could be shut down please stones you will get larger away crowds who will be intent on trouble

Sorry "Happy", but it seems the club have photographic evidence of a few supporters misbehaving both at Calais and against Wealdstone. We can't keep claiming to be whiter than white and sweeping it under the carpet, otherwise we end up no better than Wealdstone. However small a minortiy it is, even if it's only half a dozen people, it's still enough to get us a reputation and needs to be dealt with.
