Mr Brown needs to take a look at his players before blaming the pitch and anything else he can find. Are you telling me that none of those Ebbsfleet players have played on 3G before? Frannie, Fabio, Orlando, Dawson etc.....how much playing time have they had on 3G?
Ironically a post on their forum suggested their players struggled with the pace and zip of the pitch........but Brown couldn't believe how much it "held up"
It was only a pre season friendly and so quite meaningless but it was good to see the players enjoying playing. Ebbsfleet will come good but I find it quite unimaginative for a manager to leave a club, join another one and then take half his old teams players. I know it happens a lot but not on the scale that Dover have been "raided"
Although I am relieved he has been looking at them rather than us

Amazing how quick the 3g is held up as the cause of their defeat. Independant tests proved it to have 97% same playing characteristics as Wembley so stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
If it offers such an advantage to the home team why was our away record better last season.
When its described as perfection by the likes of Gus Poyet among so many others maybe Ebbsfleet should consider a groundsman over a plough if a flat predictable surface is too different for them

Sour grapes pure and simple, it doesn't matter how much money Ebbsfleet have they can try and buy the league but they have no class and a poor manager who can only blame a perfect pitch for his inept and woeful team

If they are favourites to win the conf sth are be putting my money elsewhere! Buying half a team from a side that finished about 20 Pts short of winning it won't set the standard! Did expect alot more from them yesterday! But if they win conf sth I'd be surprised!

Got to love this post from their forum:
'I'm not surprised with all that black dust coming up every time the ball hit the ground, and players running around leaving a trail behind them. I realise now that to the players it must have been very offputting. I can see why these plastic pitches are frowned on in some quarters. Are there any rulings within the Conference which relate to these type of pitches Peter ?'

They didn't mind it when they trounced us last season. What's changed apart from their manager and his mates from Dover?

i find steve browns comments very interesting, our pitch does play different when its wet to when its dry but so does a grass pitch when its muddy to when its rock hard, last year one person said to me you should get 63 points at home having a 3g pitch. at the end of the season we had taken 4 more points away from home then at home 46-42, so i think it shows you have to adapt your game to the surface your playing on. we played the better football yesterday end of.

I find it astounding that Brown and the Ebbsfleet fans are pointing there finger at the pitch and some of them are even questioning whether 3G should be ever allowed in conference south.
This is the first team/manager that has had a problem with the pitch and that just happens to be the team who have the paid a lot of money for their players and should have had the abilities to cope with the different surface.
3G isn't just about the playing surface, it is about the whole business model of a club. How ironic then that the team who were almost out of business just a few months ago have had the biggest problem. 3G has created a community feel at the Gallagher Stadium and contributed greatly to our amazing crowds, and in modern day non league football when so many clubs are struggling financially surely 3G and a community club is the only option.
We made them look ordinary yesterday and using the pitch to wallpaper over the cracks isn't going to wash

Not really a fan of 3G pitches myself and although it's a fair bit different to playing on grass, we can't blame the pitch. We were outplayed by a better and more organised team.
I'm not too bothered. We put on a good performance last week when we beat Thamesmead to start pre-season and when our squad is how Brown wants it, I'm sure we'll put in good performances once the League starts.

Thanks for your comments,we were far the better team, showing far more commitment , but that's because A certain player is now plying his trade by the seaside. We have a great squad. Common you stones.

No complaints there. You looked a very decent outfit and although Thamesmead looked useful at times, you looked a complete class above them.
We're still short of players in certain positions. We need two wingers for starters, and a striker who is going to get us 20 goals. A nice pacy centre back will do too, but I suppose we don't all get what we want, eh?
The squad are gelling together and if it takes them the whole of pre-season to click then so be it.

Hi fleetfan95,
The choice of having a 3G pitch had very little to do with whether we want to see our team playing on grass or not. The fact is most Stones fan would have preferred we had laid a grass pitch....before the first ball was ever kicked in the Stadium. But the owners decision to install 3G has been nothing short of genius in terms of generating additional revenue for the club. All year round the pitch is used practically every day, we have hosted a number of cup finals, a number of charity matches and more recently a Shakespeare production on the pitch. All of these things have generated much needed revenue and raised the interests of local businesses and in my opinion this is important for the security of the club. Not to mention the lack of postponements ( we did have one)
I fully accept the criticism levied at us for the pitch, and if you take a look at the Angels forum (not that I recommend it) they are always making reference to our plastic. But not many teams we faced last year had too much of an issue with it.
Good luck for the coming season and hopefully we will meet again in a competitive match.

Yeah - can imagine the revenue the 3G has produced for the Stones. That's a huge benefit. My brother was a part of one of many teams to play on it, for Maidstone Deaf. Just not sure I'd be a fan of having it as a main pitch for a Club.
Football fans (and players, managers, etc) aren't happy unless they're moaning. I take most things with a pinch of salt.
Good luck to yourselves also. An FA Cup/Trophy tie at Stonebridge or Gallagher would be good.

evening fleetfan95, how many people slag off the pitch before they even play on it themselves? after the initial few moments of testing the bounce and skid you forget what your playing on. loads of teams played on it last season and some of their fans say the team played better or as good/bad on it. I don't see what the big deal is. I think its just a knee jerk reaction by mr brown to blame the pitch, as said before on this thread there were no complaints last season when the fleet visited.... anyhoo, its only one match. all the best for the coming season I think you'll do well.

Sour grapes indeed, I do believe Internationals and Champions League games have been played on 3G. But obviously not good enough for Ebbsfleet!
