Nice idea rootsy but given the unfortunate short space of time between arriving and kick off, I can't see this happening, people will want to have a look around Calais an have a nice meal first* *Except Tim and his minnions who seem to revolve their football days around alcohol, which has been branded pity inducing Hmmm, says the man that organised a coach to Bognor, and had drunk 4 can of guinness before we got off the M25! And forced that nice OB1 into a jagerbomb competition, with an interesting use of a sainsbury's bag on the way back! I'm interested in the Antstone 'nice meal' think it might be a bit fluid, and I'm not talking soup!

I know my body won't agree, but how about games against supporters teams from clubs who have expressed an interest in 3g-Harlow, Sutton etc spring to mind.At least they then know what getting...also teams we get on with, like Hendon, Dover maybe? That, nickn, is a very good idea, would be up for that.

In terms of a general supporters game (i was the one in charge of organising the last one V Hendon) it is a good idea regarding the 3g interest however there are a number of potential issues -
1. Timings, if this was to be at a HOME game it would be ny on impossible to arrange the fixture before a game (at the gallagher, Mapes may be an option if its free) due to the pitch is used by both the pebbles and the raiders in the morning up until the ground needs to be prepped for the fixture. And once prep is done we have to take in account the players warm up etc so would give little or no time. However at away games it is easier as fixtures are away from the grounds and are arranged earlier e.g. 11am kick off and still gives time to move to the ground around 1.30 for 3pm kick off.
2. Cost. Is it easy to say we can arrange a game at the gallagher however due to the cost of the pitch hire it may also be an issue as it would mean that BOTH sides would have to pay in excess of £10-15 per person just to play. Even at away games we have been asked to help with the cost however this has been a nominal figure of around £3-5.
3. Organisation. I suppose these days with the amount of supporters (old/new) we have attracted it is now much easier to organise 11-16 people to play. From my experience in past history we have struggled and even if we have, ensuring that everyone arrives on the day is also the issue.

Agree with Nick, actually worth a chat with the club aswell over this could be a really good way of garnering support for 3g with some of the conference sides.

I think the club are aware/actively promoting the 3g through the 3g4us group. As enjoyable as they are for us - games amongst groups of fans are hardly the way forward for this

Well Tim and his minions did not disappoint today - well, they did nothing to dissuade my theory, but club officials would be disappointed, and perhaps concerned about their conduct ahead of next month's trip to France. As ambassadors of the club's foray into Europe it is a huge concern.
Add to the equation that meerkat guy with strange "rrrrmmmm rrrrmmmm" noises, mass debation over Danny Lye, a general fetish for watching boats stuck in the mud - with the constabulary escort on the train on the way home, and this cross-channel jaunt seems cursed from the offset.
I can only hope and pray that the stewards on the official coach are able to control these minions who's obsession with alcohol is increasingly pity inducing

Well, Tim and his 'minions' did enjoy 'a nice meal' whilst Ant remained in the pub garden drinking! Who's going to steward the steward in France? Faversham is a great place for a day out, but did find the machines in the toilets bizare, the usual 'chewing gum' machines next to one selling viagra! Probably why the locals seem to have a smile on their faces!

Don't think some of the French have forgiven us for withdrawing a couple of squadrons of hurricanes and spitfires even though everyone was already over run by the 'goose stepping hordes. Even so, I for one will savour some French hospitality in the locale. Entente cordial and bags of bonhomie. Not too much of Le Stella Artois (is it Belgium? I drink bitter) and lets behave ourselves.
