I think I'm correct in saying Danny was immense in the centre of the park when he played last season, I know this will cause some debate but I for one am very glad he re-signed.

Definitely a whole hearted & committed player however I don't think that will be enough at the next level. His lack of pace & poor distribution will be found out. Hope he proves me wrong but if we are building our midfield expecting him to be a mainstay we will have problems. Hopefully he will just be a back up player

I understand Trolley59 is fit and available, and could fill this role. And he's cheap!

Although he played better at the end of the season im shocked he has been kept on.There is a big gap between the Ryman Premier and div 1 south.Dont think he will make the end of the season.

At least people have stopped sniping and bitching about Stuart King now.
Folks, Mr Lye is with us so please wind the necks in and let Jay make the decisions he thinks are best.
Failing that opinion is that he will be a great asset to the team. Cracking player and very under rated. He's already got my man of the match votes.

It's a message board JT, free speech and all that, you need to start drinking! Danny Lye had an good end to the season, I would have stopped far short of calling it immense! He did well against some big strong sides towards the end of the season, but if anyone saw his short cameo in midfield away against Dulwich, when he spent 10mins chasing shadows, before dropping into the back four to cover an injury, where he did well. Alex Brown came on and made a difference. He's not mobile or quick enough for the Ryman Premier as was proved the last time we were there! Timmy O was far better, just my opinion!

We had one game with Stubbs and Brown in the middle and we were absolutely fantastic. If the strikers could have hit any of the chances then we would have won 8-2 instead of losing 2-1 (at home t Faversham). I struggle to understand why people think that having pedestrian players that occasionally put in a good tackle but look wholehearted are a better option.
Danny Lye is an OK player in the Ryman South and will probably have some OK performances in the Prem. If you have any ambitions of moving on up again then he gives the ball away/gets caught too often. This will be highlighted more at Prem level (as Tim says it was so last time). I also agree with Tim on the Dulwich game. The difference that night was Alex Brown coming on as sub, where he started to negate Ehrun in the middle before going on to get us moving with more fluency going forward.
Lye may useful against the more cloggy sides who have slow midfielders but he will get short time and time again against sides with midfielders like Ehrun.
I don't think this messageboard is here just to give the opinion of the club, is it?

For anyone who cant remember our four seasons in the premier the standard of football is 100% higher especially the midfield where the most of the players are far more mobile far better passers all with very sure first touches . Yes Danny can upset teams in the south and north by running around like a head less chicken but in the premier games will pass him by just like it did week after week last time, i am not anti Danny but lets not let your heart rule your heads ..

We had one game with Stubbs and Brown in the middle and we were absolutely fantastic. You can't just pack your midfield with creative players. You need at someone in there to do the donkey work. Tim was excellent but in his absence Danny did a decent job and at least deserves a chance.

We obviously managed without a slow, cumbersome midfielder that day. Maybe we could do it again. Could it be, Davy lad that Stubbsy and Brown can also tackle (don't want to point out the obvious but it was Brown that negated the threat of Ehrun at Dulwich and I'm pretty certain Stubbsy has been playing games in a defensive position). Still you know best.
